Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM – 3A <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: May 22, 2024 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Economic Development Commission Work Plan <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff requests the Economic Development Commission review the results from the strategy <br />ranking sheet completed at the April EDC meeting. The EDC should consider how the tasks are <br />ranked and how this order can serve as an outline for what the EDC will work on moving forward. <br />Also provided is the interest from commissioners who want to lead specific strategies. <br /> <br />The group will be asked to discuss the intent/goal, the target audience, and other coordination <br />details for each strategy. Staff requests the EDC discuss these factors so they can be included as <br />part of the work plan and provide direction for next steps. <br /> <br />Commissioners will be asked to consider options and motion language for adopting the strategies <br />as ranked by the EDC. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Staff has provided an overview of the average rankings in Attachment A. <br /> <br />The strategies with the highest average rankings as indicated by commissioners are as follows: <br />1. In-person business visits <br />2. In-depth business survey <br />3. Business resources webpage on City website – include events <br /> <br />The strategies with the highest interest from commissioners in leading subcommittees are as <br />follows: <br />1. In-person business visits <br />2. Website business directory with business information and links to businesses <br />3. Host event with businesses <br /> <br />Questions for discussion: <br />Does the group support this top three list of strategies?
