<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />and O&M staff was completed during spring, 2006 and the Contractor has subsequently <br />completed minor punchlist work and seed/sod restoration identified during the walk through, <br /> <br />He stated the Change Order includes payment of a bonus for exceeding bituminous density <br />requirements and payment for additional pond excavation materials incorporated into the project. <br /> <br />He recommended Council approve Change Order #1 for Amt Construction Company, lnc, of <br />Hugo, Minnesota in the amount of $43,254.24, <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked how did awarding contractors for bituminous density factor into <br />the bidding process, Mr. Brown responded it was less in the bid and more in the installation, <br />He stated there was more incentive to get things compacted very well. He noted the City <br />received a better product out of this procedure, <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked why was the Change Order coming before them now, Mr. <br />Brown stated technically the contractor was to make a claim when anything changes, and in this <br />case they made the claim in February or March, He stated they had negotiated with the <br />contractor on this Change Order. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked what the total cost of the project was, Ms. Wolfe responded <br />staff would put together a report to Council itemizing the total cost of the project. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pellegrin asked how did the incentive pay work and what did the City get for <br />this, He asked who measured the density and what formulas were used, Mr. Brown responded <br />with the density of the mate they would expect a longer life out of the material. He stated <br />American Engineering, an independent engineering firm, tested the density and the formulas used <br />were MnDOT formulas, <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Pellegrin seconded a <br />motion to approve Change Order #1 for Amt Construction Company, lnc, <br />of Hugo, Minnesota in the amount of $43,254.24 for the 2005 PMP <br />Project The motion carried unanimously (4-0), <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Motion to Approve Final Pavment (Pavment #7) to Amt Construction in the <br />amount of $132.108.35 for the 2005 Red Fox/Grev Fox PMP Proiect <br /> <br />Mr, Brown stated the City awarded Amt Construction Company lnc, of Hugo the 2005 <br />Pavement Management Program on August 8, 2005 for a total contract amount of$I,375,247,66. <br />Change Order #1 is $43,254,24 is pending approval by Council at the September 25, 2006 <br />Council Meeting, If Change Order #1 is approved the new contract amolmt will be <br />$1,418,501.90, <br /> <br />He recommended Council approve Pay Application #7 for Amt Construction Company, lnc, in <br />the amount of$132, 108.35, <br />
