Internet Protocol (IP) Phone System Discussion Mr. Johnson stated on March 22, 2006, City staff met with Terre Heiser of the City of Roseville IT Department to discuss the City of Arden Hills future phone service needs, The Internet Protocol (IP) phone system is operated through the City of Roseville's IT Department's computer system, The phones are transferable and can be utilized at any location that is connected to the Roseville computer system, He indicated the shared IP Phone system allows participating agencies direct station-to-station dialing between organizations, Connections to the public telephone network are provided by various telephone companies, Since the City of Roseville provides the City of Arden Hills with its network services, the IP phone system would simply become another network device connected to the system, Also, since the City of Arden Hills shares IT and engineering services with Roseville, the IP phone numbers for these staff members would be the same at both cities and shared employees would be accessible to staff and the public regardless oflocation, He requested Council's input regarding the possibility of switching the existing phone system to the Internet Protocol phone system currently being offered by the City of Roseville, Councilmember Holden asked how the 911 system would work, Mr. Heiser, City of Roseville, explained how the 911 system would function and how the backup services worked, Councilmember Holden asked if staff had done a cost estimate if the phone number would be required to be changed at City HalL Ms. Wolfe responded they had not prepared any kind of cost estimate, She noted stationary and business cards would need to be changed, but it was likely that much of the stationary stock would be used up before any change, She noted the reason they were looking at changing this is because the current system is old, inefficient, and difficult to use, Councilmember Grant asked if there was a cost to connect or disconnect service, Mr. Heiser responded adding or removing a phone was a very minimal cost Councilmember Holden asked if they would keep an analog line, Ms. Wolfe stated they had not considered this, but it was probably a good idea and staff would discuss this, She noted this would probably be implemented after the budget was approved, possibly sometime in January, MOTION: Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmember Pellegrin seconded a motion to approve Roseville Implementation of Internet Protocol (IP) Phone System, The motion carried unanimously (4-0), C. Motion to Approve Chanl!e Order #1 to Arnt Construction in the amount of $43.254.24 for the 2005 Red Fox/Grev Fox PMP Proiect Mr, Brown stated the City awarded Amt Construction Company, Inc, of Hugo, MN the 2005 Pavement Management Program on August 8, 2005 for a total contract amount of$I,375,247,66, The project was substantially completed in late October, 2005, A final walk through with URS
