Gerald D. Skildum of 3419 Glenarden Read appeared about a drainage <br />matter but this was deterred until later in the meeting to await the arrival <br />01' certain persons who it was believed c~ld give advice in the matter. <br /> <br />SPECIAL ORDEIlS:< !!.'his meeting was called by the mayor tcr ccnsideration <br />of dust coating certain village streets. !he mayor called upon Ch. DeLange, <br />Chairman 01' the Pa.blic WorksCommi the, for a report thereon, but this also <br />deterrsd to await the arrival of the foregoing persons. <br /> <br />REPOR'IB OF STAl'lDING COMMI'1'l!EES: <br /> <br />Finance: Chairnan Doepner said he had no repcrt for this meeting. <br /> <br />lUblic Satety: Chairman !f.ack absent. <br /> <br />Pa.bl1c Welfare: Chairman :MCClUIIg said he had no repor't but planned on <br />calling a meeting later this month. <br /> <br />REPOR'lB OF SPECIAL CO:MMITTEm: <br /> <br />Civil Defense: Director Ralph W. Hunt was present but had nothing to <br />report. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />However, he utilized this opportunity to draw the council's attention to <br />an inspection of diseased oak trees which lt0l11d be made by University Farm <br />officials at small cost to the village anii/or property owners and wOl1ld preserve <br />tha t kind of tree fi'cm dying out in the village. He said the said of: f'icials <br />would make a survey of the entire village and mark the trees that are diseased <br />so that they could be cut down by the property owners. Another method oJr pro- <br />tecting the healthy trees is to dig a treneh about 3-ft. deep around the dis- <br />eased trees so as to sever any roots cOlUlllCting wi th heal thy trees adj cining. <br />!he council wi thOl1t formal vote appsared to finor having the su.rvey nade at <br />either village and/or property owner expenee, so as to preserve and protect <br />the natll.ral beauty of the village. 'Jhs mayor said he woold look into the <br />matter. <br />
