brick would be actual clay brick, approximately half (1/2) an inch to five eighths (5/8) of an inch
thick. Each brick would be individually installed with mortar joints.
The Applicant has also requested flexibility from the 75% desirable materials requirement on the
south building elevation where there is an existing tall parapet wall above an existing overhang.
The Applicant states that there is a concern about this parapet wall's ability to accept additional
weight from desirable materials such as brick masonry, tile masonry or natural stone. The proposed
south elevation shows metal panels used on the existing parapet wall and the materials for the
elevation would consist of 63% desirable materials and 37% accent materials.
If the flexibility in building materials is granted for brick veneer, the Applicant will have met the
75% threshold with desired materials on three elevations based on the calculated building
proportion of brick and transparent glass. The Applicant states that the exterior finishes for all
elevations would equal 89% desirable materials and 11% accent materials.
Event
Center
Building
Required
Preferred
Materials
Proposed
Preferred
Materials
Other
Materials
Required
Transparency
Proposed
Transparency
'first 12' of
elevation
North Fagade
75%
100%
0%
N/A
0%
East Fagade
75%
96%
4%
50%
14%
South Fagade
75%
63%
37%
50%
4%
West Fagade
75%
95%
5%
N/A
0%
A.
Rendering of East and West Elevations — Event Center
Rendering ofSouth and North Elevations — Event Center
Page 13 of 23
AM
