<br />110 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />Tuesday, February 24, 1953 <br />The meetin~ was called to order at 8:05 P.M. by Mayor Cummings. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Roll Call: Cummings, DeLange, McClung; uldlow present, Mack <br />absent. There being a quor'lJ11 present, the Council proceeded with <br />transactions of business as follows: <br /> <br />The minutes of the special meeting of February 16, 1953 were <br />read by the clerk. DeLange moved and McClung seconded a motion <br />the minutes be approved as read - carried. <br /> <br />Mr. George Salitros presented the Council with last year's pre- <br />mium receipts for insurance coverage on his automobile. <br /> <br />Claims #244 - #249 inclusive were read by the clerk. McClung <br />moved and DeLange seconded a motion that above claims be approved - <br />carried. <br /> <br />Reports of Standing Committees: <br /> <br />Finance - No report. <br /> <br />Public Safety - Chairman'McClung gave a resume of the February 23 <br />meeting of the co~ittee. Three members VTere present. It was <br />suggested that a survey be made to deteI'mine "ihere arc lights <br />might best be instelleiL Several recol1lJ11endations were made as <br />follows: improve enforcement of laws controlling taverns, look <br />into the possibility of adopting S~l'l.e laws covering tavern opera- <br />tion as the county, and make police officers of the constables. <br /> <br />McClung moved and DeLanr's ssconded a notion that the two Constables <br />each be paid a salary ot: $75.00 and a car allowan'ce of $25.00 for <br />the month of March 1953 - carried. <br /> <br />McCluni>; l'loved and DeLanp:e seconded a motion that the tVTO Constables <br />submi t monthly reports of vlOrk done, hrs. per' day and approximate <br />mileage. - carried. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Tom Schifsky, operator of SChifsky's Dumping Grounds, ,appeared <br />before the Council to request a payment be made for dumping done by <br />residents of the Village - charge to be made on the basis of the <br />1952 figures of 297 taxable buildinr,s within the Village limits. <br />After discussion DeLange made a motion and Ludlow seconded that <br />SChifsky's be designated the dumping groundS for the Village, and <br />that they be paid at the rate of $.25 per taxable building - to be <br />paid April 1, 1953 and to cover the periOd until April 1, 1954. <br />Notice of such acion to be inserted in the Rose Tribune. Motion <br />carried. <br />
