ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION — July 10, 2024 8 <br />Commissioner Erler explained he agreed with Commissioner Mitchell, stating the Commission <br />did not have enough information to understand if 300 caliper inches of trees would even fit on this <br />property. <br />Chair Weber stated the Commission was making a recommendation on how many caliper inches <br />should be included in the landscaping plan. <br />Community Development Director Jagoe discussed how the landscape architects assist with <br />designing and spacing the trees for the project. <br />Commissioner Mitchell suggested the Commission recommend to the City Council the number <br />of trees on the site be maximized. <br />Commissioner Blilie stated she would support this recommendation. <br />Chair Weber asked how the Commission wanted to proceed regarding the flexibility for tree <br />mitigation. <br />Commissioner Stromberg supported allowing the flexibility in full. <br />Commissioner Erler reported he supported the ordinance being applied in full and did not support <br />the flexibility. <br />Commissioner Bjorklund stated he preferred the flexibility allow for 300 caliper inches instead <br />of 48 caliper inches. <br />Chair Weber supported this recommendation. <br />Commissioner Blilie supported the flexibility as written. <br />Commissioner Mitchell explained she could support the flexibility as well, but recommended the <br />landscaping plans be updated. <br />Chair Weber asked if Commissioner Mitchell could support the planting of 300 caliper inches. <br />Commissioner Mitchell indicated she could support this so long as the plantings were done in a <br />sound manner. <br />Commissioner Erler and Commissioner Blilie stated they could support the 300 caliper inches <br />as well. <br />Chair Weber asked if the 54 parking stalls was sufficient for this project. The Commission <br />supported the proposed parking as requested. <br />Chair Weber questioned if the Commission supported the proposed width of the driveway. The <br />Commission supported the proposed driveway width. <br />
