We operate three fire stations; two stations are staffed 24 hours a day. Station 2 is
located at 4676 Hodgson Rd, Station 3 at 5545 Lexington Ave. and Station 4 at 3615 Victoria St. We
anticipate staffing Station 3 over the next several years.
We currently have five full-time staff and 80 parHime firefighters who work shifts at the stations. We
require that all our Firefighte rs are State Certified Firefighte r II and State Certified EMT or higher. In 2021,
we are on pace to r un about 4,000 Fire /EMS ca ll s for the ye ar.
New Headquarters Building -Operations
The building at the 3535 Pine Tree Dr. address will be used as a new Headquarters/Fire Station and
replace station 4 located at 3615 Victolia St. The Headquarters' Office consists of five (5) full-time staff
members and would maintain typical Monday thru Friday 8-5 business hours. This fire station will be
staffed 24/7 with an additional two (2) to four (4) firefighters to respond to Fire/EMS calls.
Depending on the type of call, this station would typically respond with 1 truck for an EMS call, multiple
units may respond for Fire calls. Based on the current call volume, we would anticipate that this station
would respond to around 2,000 calls annually.
As our trucks respond to emergency calls, they will drive out of the apparatus bay and turn left on Pine
Tree Drive moving north to County Road E. For Emergency calls, we will be able to activate the traffic
lights at County Road E and Pine Tree Drive once the eme rgen cy lights are activated on any apparatus.
Traffi c pre-emption will control the intersection for the e mergency vehicl e, making it safer for the
firefighters and the public.
New Headquarters Building -Training Facility
This facility will also be used for classroom and hands-on training both inside the training room and
-outside. The number of firefighters training will vary from session to session. Typically, groups ranging
between 10 -40 firefighters would be attending the training offered a few times each week.
This facility will also include a four (4) story training tower on the west side of the building. This will have
live fire props inside the structure on two floors. The fire props will be natural gas fires which use non-
toxic, theatrical smoke machines. This 4-story training tower will also be used for ladder training and rope
rescue training.
New Headquarters Building -Public Fire Education
Our department is actively involved in Public Fire Education. We conduct various Public Fire Education
and station tours to groups throughout the year, as well as larger events such as the Fire Prevention Week
Open house.
New Headquarters Building -as your neighbor
We believe the New Headquarters/Station is ideally located to provide service to all those in Arden Hills,
North Oaks, and Shoreview. We will fit nicely into this new location and believe it will not have a negative
impact on nearby residents or bu sin esses. Station 3 is loc ate d next to Turtl e La ke Elementary School and
Station 2 next to Kinder Care, Montes sori School and Sho re vi ew Senior living Care facility.
b1
