♦ Review performance based on feedback from residents. <br />♦ Review recommendations for improvement in the City's recycling program, including enhanced <br />public education and other opportunities. <br />♦ Discuss actions in the Recycling Program to reduce the City's carbon footprint. <br />4.4 Publicity, Promotion, and Education <br />The selected Contractor and the City shall work together in the preparation and distribution of educational <br />materials to ensure accurate information and program directions. The selected Contractor shall pay for <br />the annual design, printing, and mailing of a curbside program flyer and a digital file of the annual flyer <br />shall be sent to the City representative. The flyer shall be delivered to homes no later than January 31 of <br />each year. <br />The publicity and promotion program may include articles for City newsletters, public appearances, <br />provision of information for local environmental groups, or attendance at public events sponsored by the <br />City. The Contractor shall at a minimum provide one newsletter article per year. Respondents shall <br />describe their experience in these activities and whether there would be a cost associated with the <br />service. <br />In addition, Respondents are encouraged to specify other public education tools that they are willing to <br />provide (e.g., recycling education materials targeted for a specific neighborhood, targeting a specific <br />material type, etc.). <br />As part of the proposal, Respondents shall provide examples of public education materials they have <br />developed for other municipalities. <br />4.5 City Shall Approve Contractor's Public Education Literature <br />The Contractor shall conduct its own promotions and public education to increase participation. The <br />Contractor shall submit a draft of any public education literature for approval by the City, at least one <br />month before printing and release of any such literature. <br />4.6 Annual Work Plan <br />An annual work plan will be included in the final recycling collection contract. The work plan shall include <br />initiatives to improve the City's recycling program. These initiatives may include (but are not limited to) <br />expansion of materials collected, voluntary expansion to businesses, effective education of residents with <br />measurement, community involvement, outreach to low participating communities, and outreach using <br />electronic communications including e-mail reminders and apps. <br />RFP for City of Arden Hills Recycling Services . 8 <br />
