The minl1tes of the August 26, 1957 meeting of the Council were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />FINANCE CONHITTE,'E: Mrs. Stromquist, Finance Committee Chairman relcorted <br />that the committee held a meeting aJld Horl,ed on the 1958 budget. The <br />committee reco~~endations on the budget will be given at the next meeting. <br /> <br />PD~LIC SAFBTY COfTI1ITTEE: Mr. Winfrey advised against purchase of the used <br />squad car that Mounds Vi~, TOvlIlShip has for sale. Mr. Winfrey will check <br />purchase cost of a new car and report back to Council. <br /> <br />Hr. Vleber re"orted a request from Mounds Vie" High School Official for <br />patrolling of school grounds. Hr. Weber feels policing of school ground <br />to be the responsibility of the school district rather than the village. <br />Extra patrolling will be done on roads near the school after school hours. <br /> <br />... <br />... <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS CO~~ITTEE: Mr. Ashbach reported a request from Mr. Kunze, <br />pr:.ncipal of Hounds Vi""" High School for a street light in front of his <br />house because tomatoes and possibi:! ity a rock ',.ras throun at his front <br />"lindow. No action ,'laS taken at this meeting but police departoent agreed <br />to gj.ve extra attention to patrolling his house and neighborhood. <br /> <br />After discussing the matter of the request to Imler and resurface Edg~,ater <br />Avenue, motion vTaS made by Hoyt, seconded by Vl::.nfrey to correct the grade <br />of the street (Edgewater) and proceed under the Local Improveoent Code, <br />motion passed. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley Ims requested to bring in preliminary estimates of cost <br />and specifications. <br /> <br />Conncil requested hr. Ashbach and Public Works Conmittee to make a <br />recommendation a.s to what percentage the ViJlage and 'H'hat percentage the <br />inunediately benefitted residents should pay. <br /> <br />.-' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Hr. Ashbach stated that Mr. Bannister Idll soon mal:e a report on the <br />proposal S~H'er outlet from ~Nin City i~senal. <br /> <br />PUBLIC WBLFM1E: Upon motion by Hoyt, seconded by Stromquist, rules were <br />suspended and a second and final reading was given on Ordinance lillending <br />Ordinance Nwnber 16, knovm as the Building Code. Motion passed. Clerk <br />to publish it in Rose Tribune <br /> <br />Dr. Hoyt reported that Hr. Kenna agreed to sell the six lots at County <br />Road E :and Hamline Avenue for $10,000.00 to the Village. Part of this <br />area has been used for midget baseball during the past summer.; The Council <br />felt it might be a very desirable playground area. Dr. Hoyt was requested <br />to check further into the matter and to report back to the COlIDCil. <br />
