Attachment E
Biography for Shawn Patrick OKeefe
Education: Shawn OKeefe has a bachelor's degree from St. John's University in Minnesota in Business
Management. He graduated in 1995.
Experience: While attending college, Shawn worked 30 hours a week at Nahan Printing in St. Cloud. He
quickly moved up from a bindery worker to production scheduler where he was in charge of allocating
fifty million dollars of printing projects a year into production. After graduation, he took a position with
Challenge Printing in Eden Prairie in a production scheduling and purchasing role.
In 1998 Shawn took a new position as a sales representative with Alpha Graphics. Within a few years
Shawn was able to establish over $100,000 a month in sales. At the time, Alpha Graphics had 412
locations around the world and Shawn was the #1 ranked sales representative among all Alpha Graphics
locations.
In 2003 Shawn took a risk and started his own print brokering business, Print Ready Inc. This was a
successful business venture and is still in business today. Shawn runs all aspects of this business while
hiring graphics specialists and installation crews when needed. His customers have been very loyal, and
it has been a rewarding venture.
In 2006 Shawn started another business that managed the returns of medical devices for a large medical
device firm in Minneapolis. The technical name for this work is post market surveillance. He successfully
negotiated the terms of the contract and hired people to run the daily functions of the business. He
managed this business for 6 years before his largest client changed course and brought this work back in
house. In 6 years, About Medical handled hundreds of thousands of returned devices and never lost a
single device.
Personal: Shawn is married and has three children. He has volunteered as a youth basketball coach for
10+ years, has coached Special Olympics teams, and was the president of the birdie club which is the
booster club for the Spring Lake Park High School golf team. His favorite activities are watching his
children play sports, coaching basketball, cheering for St John's and Notre Dame Football, trying to beat
his sons at golf, and spending time with his wife, Kristi.
Passion: Shawn wants to make a difference in the lives of his community. He has seen the impact of
activity, sports, and community involvement. It seems like the more technology we get, the more
isolated we become. Growing up, there were many community assets like outdoor pools, libraries,
Friday night community dinners at school and many more. Things that didn't cost a lot of money so all
could come. Places are so important in building the community bond. We must get back together —to
do things face to face again —to play together and learn together. We can do that if we choose to.
