Attachment A
Just a few main points for the workshop meeting:
1. The MNTWC is projected to add $25 Million Dollars every year indirect economic impact to the
area. There is also a substantial indirect economic impact that comes with which includes new
support business and the people they hire, etc.
2. The $25 million dollars a year indirect economic impact comes mostly from outside visitors
spending money in our community. This is new money.
3. Over time, the initial investment contribution is paid back in full by the increased tax revenue.
4. Best part — these numbers are not hopeful guesses. They come directly from communities that
invested in a facility just like the MNTWC. Sports Facilities Company manages or consults on
many of these facilities across the United States, so the results are averaged from many
communities and not just a one-off example. These are real world numbers tracked every
month and you can count on them.
Team
SFC is the leader in generating the most accurate and detailed economic data for new sports and
recreation venues. SFC is also the largest operator and management assistance provider for facilities just
like the MNTWC in the world. Populous is the world-wide leader in designing and building support
services for sports and recreation destinations. They did Target Field and George Fantauzza was the lead
on that project. George is on our team. They did Allianz Field and if you have been to Allianz or Target
Field, you know they are two of the absolute best stadiums in the world for their sports. Populous just
designed a brand-new amazing sports venue set to open this fall in Overland Park, Kansas that is very
similar to the MNTWC. Our team has been given the "OK" for a personal tour of that facility when you
are ready. Populous is also very experienced in designing the "Sports village" that surrounds venues. You
could not find a better, more specialized team to build the perfect sports destination for TC North. We
have the best there is.
Moment
There are times in our lives when something great happened at just the right moment. It is rare when it
happens, but in those moments, you know you may have been a bit lucky. Even the best sports players
in the world admit that you need a lucky bounce or a good call sometimes to win the big one. The
opportunity to land the largest indoor sports and recreation facility in Minnesota — in a development
that very much needs an economic engine and vitality driver — at a time when the school districts are
bursting at the seems for indoor court space, and when the feeling of community action just seems to
be so diminished is now. This is definitely one of those moments. It's not a question of, if a facility like
this one will be built in the Twin Cities, it's just a matter of what community is going to get it. No area in
the Metro needs the MNTWC more than TC North does. If we all want this here for our community, then
we need to move and be decisive. Sure, much work will need to be done but that shouldn't scare any of
us. We have a huge coalition between cities and county and school districts and private side that we will
get it done if we know this is right. Let's take this tremendous opportunity, this economic powerhouse,
this vitality hub..... this moment and bring it home to our community.
