The Clerk presented Council members with copies of the monthly budget reports. Liquor Committee: Mrs. Stromquist reported for Mr. Worth Readt that a meeting waS held by the Liquor Committee with liquor license applican.s. There is a question of the legality of issuance of both liquor and food licneses in the same building. Mr. Donald Stecker stated to Council that it is widely practioed throughout the state. Mr. Stecker felt that if there is a partition between the two rooms, that it is legal. Council to check the matter with the Village Attorney. ..Mr. Schreyer suggested that a member of the Liquor Commission be invited to next CounciJmeeting to discuss legal matters pertaining to liquor licenses. Mayor Ashbach to invite someone from the Commission to attend our next meeting. Upon motion by Winfrey, B2iB seconded by Stromquist, Attorney Courtney and Engineer Carley were authorized to try to obtain a 7 to 5 foot easement for the Grant Road projeot from Mr. Sherman for a fee limited to $500.00. Motion passed. Council requested Mayor Ashbaoh to work with Engineer to check into feasibility of installation of tennis courts to be built at the village property at Shorewood Hills and that at Co. Rd. E and Hamline Avenue. Upon motion by Winfrey, seoonded by Drepeau, The Arden Drive-In waS licenseA to operate a~rive in, sell soft drinks and cigarettes for a ~eriod of seven months, beginning April I, 1955. Motion passed. Clerk was requested to write to New Brighton Village Council in regard to the proposed name change for Co. Rd.,F. The Building Inspector waS requested to encourage new home builders to run sewer linew to the front of the house ins tead of back for easier connection when sewer lines may be installed.
