<br />. . <br /> <br />rUNC)"TES OF REm.iLAR MEETING <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF AF~EN HILLS <br />Monday, May 12, 1959 <br /> <br />The meeting was <br /> <br />Roll Call: Present; <br />Absent; <br /> <br />called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Mayor Ashbach. <br /> <br />Ashbach, Winfrey, Crepeau, Stromquist <br />DeLange <br /> <br />The Minutes of the April 28, 1959 meeting of the Council were read and <br />.approved. <br /> <br />Mrs. Cobt a resident of the Roseville Terrace plat requested a name change <br />of Co. Ra. D to Glenhill Road. The road is one block long and divides Rosevil <br />Ie and Arden Hills. Mayor Ashbach to take the matter up with Roseville and <br />Ramsey County. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Kennedy inauired about release of easements on Lake Johanna in Auditor's <br />Subdivision gO: Atorney was informed that Village isnot to take No 1 & 2 <br />of the easements from Mounds View, so they will revert to original owners. <br /> <br />Mrs. Mary Jane Isaksen President of the League of Women Voters of Arden <br />Hills presented Mayor Ashbach and Council members with copies of the new <br />village handbook prepared by the League. Copies are "In be distributed to <br />all village residents on Tuesday, May 13 by League members. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Crepeau, the Lake Johanna Improvement <br />Assoc. was given permission to allow a carnival to operate at the location <br />at Hamline Avenue and Co. Rd. E May l~ thru May 18, the policing to be paid <br />by the carnival people under the direction of Mr. Crepeau, Public Safety <br />Director, and that evidence be filed with Clerk of Village of liability <br />insurance, and that the hours the carnival is to operate is to be set by <br />Mr. Crepeau. Motion passed. . <br /> <br />Mr. Nyberg complained about the still unfinished house on Tiller Lane. <br />Attorney to be requested to write the owner another letterurging*hat <br />work be started immediately on the building with an early completion. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson, Secty. of the Minnesota Li~uor Commission was invited by Mayor <br />Ashbach to speak at the meeting. Mr. Nelson spoke briefly on the liquor <br />licensing in Minnesota and answered questions from Council members and <br />people from the audience on the question. <br /> <br />Finance Committee: Mrs. Stromquist reported a meeting held of the Finance <br />Committee with the followi ng recommendations made to the Council: <br />1. That we Day for the Vil}ge hall by using current funds for the down <br />payment of $4-750 or t the cost of the hall, with the calance' due to be <br />paid in like manner within the next two years. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />f'i- <br /> <br />That we purchase the Kenna property for $10,000 and agree that village <br />necessary incidental expenses to the purchase. The Committee <br />recommended that village try to p~ve the 1957 ta~ payment on the land <br />refunded to us by the Counuy. <br />
