<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS <br />MONDAY.. AUGUST 11, 1958 <br /> <br />:II <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m. by Mayor Ashbach. <br /> <br />Roll Call: Present; AShbach, DeLange, Winfrey, Crepeau, Stromquist. <br />Absent; none <br /> <br />~The minutes of the July 2S, 1953 meeting of the Council were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROBOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ARDEN HILLS ZONING ORDINANCE <br />TO ALLOW DUPLEXES IN B-2 ZONES <br /> <br />Trustee Winfrey presented the proposed amendment which would allow con- <br />struction of twin homes, stating the restrictions, benefit to Village, etc. <br /> <br />Mayor Ashbach requested residents to give their opinions. Many residents <br />; objected to the ordinance because they felt we have no need for duplex or <br />multiple dwelling, that it would lower property values, and make Arden <br />Hills a less desirable Village in which to live. <br /> <br />After considerable discussion by residents and Council members Crepeau <br />moved, Stromquist seconded the motion that the proposed amendm~nt be tabled <br />until the need for such zoning is muCh greater. Motion passed. <br /> <br />The Council then resumed the regular meeting. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley submitted to Clerk files a profile and plan of Mounds <br />Avenue and Prior Avenue showing proposed grade revision. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley also presented proposed recommended name changes for <br />Lakeview Avenue and for Jensen Avenue. The recommendations were filed <br />wi th Clerk. <br /> <br />Mr. Carley presented <br />and lamline Avenue. <br />playground. <br /> <br />Upon motion by DeLange, seconded by Winfrey, the street name Jensen Avenue <br />was changed to Shoreline Lane. Motion passed. <br /> <br />a map of the proposed playground at County Road E <br />Council authorized DeLange to start grading the <br /> <br />Upon motion by DeLange, seconded by Crepeau, the street name Lakeview <br />~ Avenue was changed to Pascal Avenue. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Carley presented Village with a new list of Village streets and street <br />mileage, and will inform Ramse~ County of the total street mileage. <br /> <br />DeLange was requested to correct a drainage situation at Fairview and <br />Gramsie. <br /> <br />l~. Harry Mitzo, representing the Jehova Witness made application to <br />Council for a building permit for a church at Highway #3 and Mound Avenue. <br />The matter was referred to the Public Welfare Committee. <br /> <br />t.~__ <br />
