.

.

10

for the operation of the department itself within Arden Hills.
The lion's share of the cost is that cost that is required that
we pay to Roseville and to the City of St. Paul by virtue of
existing charge. that they have made. This $36.00 may seem high.
In Roseville it's $24 but the reason it's $36.00 is that there are
so very few homes in this 8e acre portion that will come into
the project at this time. The more people that use the sanitary
sewer system the cost gets spread that much better and, therefore,
the cost per home is that much less but because only this portion
of the village is getting service $36.00 will be the annual yearly
charge and as more people cc.me into the system, as they keep
adding to it, then this charge would be reflected downward
because the cost would be spread across that many more people.
To give you an example, we have indicated on the next page
what this would de to what might be called a typical home in
Arden Hills on an SO foot lot. The assessment would be 80 feet
times $12.60. This is only those peeple in the immediate portion
that would get service. That's $12.&0 or $1,008 to get a sewer
connecticn. You will notice that the balance of the area would
be paying $48.0e. That's the $.60. The service connection aga!n
is $50.0U as was pointed cut. That's the same as No.6 c on the
other side of the page. No.4 is the connection charge and that's
from the stub to your home. Usually a Council adopts an ordinance
after sewer service is available that requires everybody that has
sewer service availability to connect within a certain period of
time. Usually it's two years. That's what was done in Roseville
for example. This is so that the read isn't constantly being torn
up and so you ""J<<~ the operation on a good going basis.
