Have you
contacted New Brighton as to connecting on to their sewer system?
MAYOR ASHBACH: Yes, we have. It has been determined that
the most economic way for that portion ofth. west side of the
lake tc go is through Reseville.
MR. FUL~ER: Has there been a dollar vaue put on it?
~~YOR ASHB~CH: We had our engineers estimate it. I might
point out that probably New Brighten will be going through
some of Arden Hills sewers.
MR. POPOVICH: There is another factor that you must consider
and that is that New Brighton uses the T.dn Ci ty Arsenal line that
comes dcwn and I know when the Mounds View High Schc,ol was built
and a sanitary sewer connection was mode from there to the Village
of NevI Brighton, I prepared the contract between the Village and
school and we had to get an okay from the Corps of Army Engineers
but there's a clause that the government can cancel out at any
time and that's a headache. They could stop the high school tomorrow
but this is a calculated risk and even I~ew Brighton is tied in the
same way. It's always a problem that you have to consider.
YR. ROBERT EWY, 3549 Glenarden Road. It seems like the
general opinion is that the sewer should be put in. 1 was wondering
why it wouldn't be feasible to perhaps have a vote of this group
up here. Would that take teo long?
MAYOR ASHBhCH: I'm sure the Council would be glad to arrange a
public meeting there. We could take a veice vote. (Applause)
There apparently is quite a little interest in it. I think we'll
have tc consult with our fiscal people. and engineers as to financing,
etc., and maybe we can contact you or some people in that area and
