Mayor read a letter from Mrs. Mildred Carlson pertaining to the re- modeling of her mome into a duplex. Matter referred to Board of Appeals. . Announcement of regular Council meeting of January 4 was made. The attorney was requested to be present to swear in new officers. Meet- ing scheduled for 7:00 p,m, A letter from Charles Edwards pertaining to sewer, building require- ments, etc. was referred to Kennedy for answer. Mayor recommended that Council set up meeting after the first of the year for the residents of Arden Hills #1 who are interested in con- necting to the sewer. Clerk reported that the preliminary balance of December 28, 1959 showed the following in the various funds; General fund - $:50,910.67; Fund 1, Playground - $491.61; Fund 2, Grant Road - $667,22; and Fund :5, Sewer Construction - $87,455,28. ' . Crepeau moved that the Clerk and Treasurer be authorized to invest Village funds in short term. securities until needed for village ob- ligations, seconded by Delange. Motion carried. A letter from Banister Engineering Co. was read concerning the cost of installing :5 phase electric power service for the sewage lift station, Since Northern States Power Company will not make the power available without charge, Banister recommended that the Council pay the $855 as requested. Kennedy moved that the action of the Clerk "e ratified. Seconded by DeLange, Motion passed. crepeau moved that License Applications for Off-Sale non-intoxicating malt liquor, cigarettes and groceries for Kempls Grocery be approved subject to approval by the Public Safety Department and completion of application. Seconded by Kennedy. Motion carried. Crepeau moved that license applications for juke box, soft drinks, cafe, cigarettew, Off- and On*Sale non-intoxicati~ng malt liquor for Grotto Club, Inc. be approved subject to approval by the Public . Safety Department. Seconded by Kennedy, motion passed. Delange moved that Claims #2002 through #2047 be approved for payment. Seconded by Crepeau, motion carried. Mr. Read reported that he had the liquor license applications for . Schreyer, Inc., Highway 10 Liquor store, Inc., McGuire'S Liquors, Ine. and Wagon Wheel, and that the Finance Committee investigation is con- tinuing. He stated that the Finance committee recommends renewals of these licenses but would like to get the applications in more suitable form and hopes to be able to submit them to the Council by January 4. / "--- -.--
