They may want to let it ~o for a year or two but you can come in and pay it any time, at which time you just pay interest up to the end of the year in which you pay. In May of 1962, for example, if you decided to pay the whole thing up, you would have to pay interest to the end of 1962. If you decided not to pay it in 1962 you would pay the regular assessment on May 31 and October 31. Same thing in 1963 and then perhaps in 1964 you may decide to pay the whole thing up and you would pay it up and save the rest of ;your interest. We have found from experience that the prepayments on assessments range from 10;; to 33% depending on the community. In some areas many people come in and decide to pay up to save the interest charge. . Others want to pay up for one or more other reasons. If you decide to sell your home, then, of course, you should be very careful about paying in advance because this is something you have to . work out with your proposed purchaser. As you know, when people buy a house they buy it with all taxes and assessments paid up to the year in which it is sold so if you decide to pay in advance, if you're thinking about selling, then, of course, by paying in advance you would have to be sure to increase the price of your home to recapture what you prepaid.
