As you folks are well aC4uainted, the
topography is 4uite rough, particularly in the area west of Snelling.
One further lift station is proposed based upon the suggestion of
the Council last year since your fair share of industrial area lies
to the north of the Soo line right-of-way here and to get that
property, or a connection for that property other than at a minimal
depth it would be necessary to provide a lift station. Development
in that area will point out as to the exact location for a lift
station and would justify its construction if the buildings are
located any distance from the Sea line tracks.
,,,'e have recently discussed the mat':er of highway development
in the vicinity of proposed Trunk Highway 51 which, as you
rrobably know, is to continue northeasterly and then north alon;
its present site of Hamline Avenue rather than northerly along
Hamline and the plans for that construction the last time we
discussed it with the Highway Department were not completed.
";e don't know and have not been able to learn the exact detai 1
of grade separations and division. It is possible that rather than
extending up along the west side of new Highway 51 and crossing
there will probably be an underpass at the railroad tracts - it will
probably be necessary to stop at this point and extend up the east side,
\e have studied this matter over, the first work being done in
1958 wi':h the first preliminary report being submitted to the
Council in December of 1958. ~e have revised our work, as directed
by the Council and we have, as a result, the layout for the sewers
which you see on the screen and which you have seen on the side wall
here. ,e feel that this improvement is feasible, practical and
should be made in the l"anner in which it is proposed if the

.

.
