Public Works Director / City Engineer <br />Lucas Miller, Assistant Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: 2025 Park Improvements Project - Arden Oaks Park Play Structure Purchase <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />230,000 — Arden Oaks Park $TBD PIR — Parks, <br />$245,000 — Freeway Park SLP Lions Club Donation <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• Acceptance of the GameTime Community Champions Playground Grant Funds in the <br />amount of $83,487.00. <br />• Authorize purchase of playground equipment and installation for Arden Oaks Park in the <br />amount of $172,178.00. <br />Background <br />At the September 9th Work Session, City Council reviewed the survey results from the Open House <br />and online survey for the play structure options for Arden Oaks Park and Freeway Park. Direction <br />from the council was to concur with the recommendation of the PTRC on playground equipment <br />design and color for Arden Oaks Park and to apply for the GameTime Community Champions <br />Playground Grant Funds with the playground design by MWP Recreation that received the most <br />votes. Council also had the understanding that applying for the grant did commit the city to <br />accepting the grant award and if the grant was not received, to consider the next playground <br />equipment option that was preferred by residents. <br />Following the work session, staff and the consultant worked on the grant application and submittal. <br />On Monday, September 16, staff was notified that the City of Arden Hills was awarded the full <br />requested amount of 100% matching funds for the Arden Oaks Park playground equipment of <br />$83,487.00. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
