CREPEAU JR. <br /> <br />News Release <br />Councilman-Crepeau requested that the Vi I lage residents be Informed, <br />probably by a news Item In the newspapers, to advise the Pollee <br />Department when planning to be out of the Vi Ilage for an extended <br />length of time; the pollee office wIll advise them of precautions <br />to be taken. He said the Village has been plagued with a series of <br />break-ins and vandalism. <br /> <br />Mr. Crepeau read a letter from Flaherty's Arden Bowl, praising the <br />Arden Hills Pollee Department, and specifically Pat Sexton, for the <br />efficient police action in the recent armed robbery at Flaherty's <br />Arden Bowl. <br /> <br />Mr, Crepeau reviewed an editorial, written by Wm. Benzick, printed <br />In the Arden HII Is Jaucees Newsletter, dated October 11, 1968, which <br />he said be takes except Ion to, stating that the basis for such an <br />edItorial Is unfounded. Mr. Ron HerrIck, fellow Jaycee and Village <br />resident, stated that the newsletter wll I print any edItorial <br />wrItten by a member of the Jaycees. This editorial does not <br />necessarily reflect the opinion of other Jaycees and was probably <br />meant to create controversy and Interest in Village affairs. <br /> <br />Mayor BJorndahl further took exception to the statement In this <br />editorIal whIch stated that the Village does not inform residents <br />of matters before the Vii lage, and cited several examples when Village <br />mailings, advising residents of major matters such as water hearings and <br />and assessment hearings, whIch were only attended by a few residents. <br />Clerk Stromquist advised that Council meeting agendas and ~Inutes <br />of both Planning Commission Meetings and Council Meetlnqs are sent <br />to all Interested organIzatIons, of.whlch the Jaycees Is'one, as well <br />as to four newspapers. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN STANLEY OL~EN <br /> <br />It Mounds AVenue - This matter was considered earlier in relation to the <br />fwTn-Clty-frai ler Park which abuts Mounds Avenue on the north, <br /> <br />s~~L~~~~_~~~Lq~~!L~~ <br />. Councilman Olmen advised that MR, Fred Nixon has reslqned from the <br />Public Works Department, effective Friday, October 4, 1968, Council- <br />man Olmen moved acceptance of Mr, Nixon's letter of resignation, as <br />of this date; seconded by Councilman Crepeau; carried, <br /> <br />Clerk Stromquist advised that Mr, Nixon's final payroll check and one <br />for 40 hours of vacation time have been prepared and are ready for <br />signatures, <br /> <br />s~~L~~~~_~~~~L~!~~~t <br />Councilman Stanley Olmen moved that, on the recommendation of Main- <br />tenance Supervisor, Mr, Beecher, that Counci I approve th~ appointment <br />of Mr, Albert Hintz as a probationary full-time Public Works Depart- <br />ment employee, starting October 14, 1968 at the hourly rate of $3.43 <br />per hour; seconded by Counci Iman Crepeau; carried. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />- 5 - <br />
