Requests to Ramsey County for lowering <br />the speed limits on County Road E and Stowe Avenue are stil I <br />pending. <br /> <br />REPORT OF E. GRAY HENDERSON - Civic Center and Finance <br /> <br />Civic Center <br />A joint meeting between the Civic Center CommIttee end the council <br />has been set for July 8, 1968, before the regular council meeting. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN OLMEN - Public Works <br /> <br />Public Works Recommendations <br />Councilman Olmen report on the committee meeting held March 23; <br />members of the council had received copies of these minutes. The <br />matter of street I ighting on Oak Avenue had been referred to the <br />Planning Commission for study. Councilman Hollenhorst reported <br />that Mr. Dale believes that the village should specify the type <br />of lights desired from the brochures from N.S. P. <br /> <br />Councilman Crepeau informed the council that the Public Safety <br />Committee would like lights every 600 ft. for safety reasons. <br />Clerk requested to send cost of lights to Councilman Olmen. <br /> <br />The Publ ic Works Committee recommended approval of extending the <br />gas line to the water booster station. <br /> <br />Councilman Crepeau moved the approval of the purchase of safety <br />equipment and dehumidifiers for the Public Works Department, as <br />recommended by Supervisor Beecher; seconded by Councilman <br />Hollenhorst; motion carried. <br /> <br />Committee felt tools purchased for the Installation and maintenance <br />of water facilities should be taken from the water Improvement fund. <br /> <br />Mr. Beecher informed the council that fill dirt is available from <br />tha City of Minneapolis. <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR BJORNOAHL - Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />N.S.P. Gas Rate Increase Proposal <br />Mayor Bjorndahl reported that N.S.P. Is proposing an Increase In <br />gas rates; he informed the council that the Ramsey County League <br />will consider this matter. Councilman Hollenhorst will attend <br />this meeting and report back to the council. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Vii lage Property Purchase Proposal <br />Mayor Bjorndahl reported that the property rented by the village <br />adjacent to the village hall which is now being used for the <br />maintenance department appears to be working out very well. He <br />informed the council that the Parks and Recreation Committee <br />recommends purchase of the property for future use; the existing <br />buIlding might also be used for recreational purposes In the <br />future. <br /> <br />Councilman Olmen moved the matter be referred to Attorney Courtney <br />to contact Mr. Grudnowke's attorney to work on a contract for <br />deed (five year contract); the purchase to Include a parcel of <br />land behind the vIllage hall; seconded by Councilman Crepeau; <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />Human RiQhts Commission Appointments <br />Councilman Henderson moved the approval of the appointments to the <br />Human Rights Commission. as made by Mayor Bjorndahl, and listed <br /> <br />- 4 - <br />
