M. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present - Mayor Bjorndahl, Coucllmen Crepeau, Hollenhorst and <br />Henderson, <br />Absent - Coucllman Olmen, <br />Also present - Village Attorney Vincent Courtney, Village <br />EngIneer Donald Lund, Village Treasurer Worth <br />Read, Admlnlstr<<tlve Clork Lorraine Stromquist <br />and Accounting Clerk Charlotte McNlesh. <br /> <br />Approval of MInutes <br />The Minutes of the Regular Council ~eetlng of May 13, 1968 <br />were approved as amended, <br /> <br />BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR <br /> <br />Bethel College Revised Site Plan <br />Mr. HUgh Peacock, Grande and Peacock ArchItects, presented a <br />revised sIte plan IncludIng the formerly proposed Chapel and <br />general purpose bUIldIng to be located on the SemInary Site <br />and a Dormitory bUilding on the College SIte, Mr, Peacock <br />explaIned that a lIghted walkway Is proposed around the <br />perimeter of Lake ValentIne, In the future, for use by VIllage <br />residents as well as the College. He explained that eventually <br />the COllege wIll have two access roads to Old Highway 10: the <br />Highway Department will close the present access on HIghway 51 <br />when traffIc becomes excessIve. The Col lege is propesed to be <br />completed by 1971. <br /> <br />CounCilman Hollenhorst reported that the PlannIng CommissIon <br />felt this revIsed plan was an Improvement over the orIginal <br />plan. Councilman Hollenhorst moved approval of the plans as <br />detaIled on the revised site plan dated 4-11-68 and eliminating <br />the buildings shown west of Old Highway 10, Seconded by <br />Coucilman Crepeau, carried, <br /> <br />Water Improvement 68-3 <br />Andrew Kuehn 111,3581 Rldgewood Road expressed concern over <br />destruction of large trees in his area and requested consIder- <br />ation of locatIng water lInes to avoId a heavily wooded area, <br />Several other residents In the area expressed sImIlar concern. <br />EngIneer Lund will meet with residents of the area: Mrs, A, <br />Kuehn will contact neighbors wIshIng to attend this meeting, <br /> <br />Max Tyler, 1471Sklles Lane raIsed several questions about <br />tax Increases resulting from thn water Improvements, Council- <br />man Crepeau reported on the status of Improvement 68-3, stat- <br />Ing that at the Public HearIng on May 23, 1968 Banister Englneer- <br />,ng was authorIzed to prepare plans and speCificatIons, but <br />Council aporovAI ^f the project was being held In abeyance <br />pending ap~ ;catlon for possIble Federal ald. <br /> <br />A general discussion followed concerning the Village mill rate <br />and the effect of Water improvement 68-1,68-2,68-3 on this <br />rate. Mayor Bjorndahl stated that at present the village .,11 <br />rate represents Il-12~ of total real estate taxes paid. He <br />further advIsed Mr. Tyler and Mr. Faltelsek that resIdents <br />would be Informed before final Council approval Is given to <br /> <br />Water Improvement 68-3 <br /> <br />REPORT OF ATTORNEY COURTNEY <br /> <br />VIIlaQe Participation In PrOQram for Retarded Children <br />Attorney Courtney revIewed the letter from SPARC, Council <br />requested the attorney to Investigate and report at the next <br />meeting on VIllage partIcipation, Clerk Stromquist was re- <br />quested to Inform SPARC of the status of their request. <br /> <br />-f- <br />
