Mayor Bjorn- <br />dahl stated that Rosevllle has meters for this purpose. <br /> <br />Traffic Control SIQns <br />Mayor Bjrondahl Informed the Council of an Informal request for <br />the placing of "Children at Play" signs at both ends of Ingerson <br />Road. Councilman Crepeau stated that the Police Department Is not <br />In favor of too many signs and feels that these signs give mothers <br />a false sense of security. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCilMAN HENDERSON - Civic Center and Finance <br /> <br />Civic Center Committee <br />Councilman Henderson reported on a meetIng of thIs committee which <br />was held last Thursday. The Committee plans to proceed with the <br />present plans for a civic center, but will not outlaw the possibility <br />of joint facilities with Shorevlew. He stated that on May 20, the <br />committee will visit five sites, and Invited the Council to accompany <br />them. He requested each Village committee to update their 1966 re- <br />ports, which outlined the use and space needed In a civic center. <br />Clerk was requested to send copies of this report to each of the <br />committee chairmen and also to send a copy of the 1966 reports to <br />Councilman Henderson. He expressed the desire of the committee to <br />purchase land for the civic center withIn the year. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN OLMEN - PublIc Works <br /> <br />Dumpln!! Problem <br /> <br />Councilman Crepeau reported on debris dumped between the Lake Johanna <br />Fire Station and the Village storage building. He suggested clean <br />fill be hauled In to cover it. <br /> <br />Mayor Bjorndahl stated that fill will be avaIlable from the water <br />project, which could be used for this purpose. <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR BJORNDAHL -Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Vlllaoe Maintenance Supervisor Emploved <br />Mayor Bjorndahl stated that four members of the Council IntervIewed <br />applicants for the position of General Maintenance SupervIsor for <br />the Village. He would supervise general maintenance of utilIties, <br />roads, parks and playgrounds and related Improvements. <br /> <br />Councilman Olmen moved that Everett Beecher, 520 Mahtomedl Avenue, <br />be employed as General MaIntenance Supervisor, effective May 16, <br />1968, at a monthly salary of $700.00 per month; seconded by Council- <br />man Hol!enhorst; motion carried. <br />(Councilman Hol!enhorst Jeft at this time.> <br /> <br />Pedestrian Trail SIQns <br />Mr. Lagerstrom, Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee, re- <br />ported that signs for the Pedestrian Trail were made by the Girl <br />Scout Cub Cadette Troup No. 33 and presented to the Parks and Rec- <br />reation Committee. Andrew Michal, 1479 Arden Place, who Is working <br />toward his eagie award in scoutlng,hhas also made Pedestrian Trail <br />signs. Mr. Lagerstrom displayed one of the signs. <br /> <br />Clerk requested to send "Thank you" letters to the above mentioned. <br /> <br />Arden Hills Jaycees <br />William Benzick, President, and Ronald Herrick of the Arden Hills <br />Jaycees, presented the VIllage with a new United States flag. Mayor <br />Bjorndahi expressed appreciation and requested the Clerk to send a <br />"Thank you" letter to the Jaycees. <br /> <br />-5- <br />
