I <br />Present - Mayor Bjorndahl, Councilmen Crepeau, Hollenhorst and <br />Henderson. <br />Absent - Councilman Olmen. <br />Also Present - Village Attorney Vincent P. Courtney, Village Engineer <br />Donald Lund, Treasurer Worth G. Read, Building Inspector <br />Clay Kelley, Administrative Clerk Lorraine Stromquist and <br />Deputy Clerk Florence Honan. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Minutes of the regular council meeting of March 25, 1968 ware approved <br />as amended. <br /> <br />BUSINESS FROM THE fLOOR <br /> <br />Human RIQhts <br />Mrs. Dorothy Sullivan, President of the Arden Hills League of Women <br />Voters, spoke for the League and recommended the adoption of an <br />Ordinance creating a Human Rights Commission. Mayor BJorndahl <br />received a letter dated 5/5/68, from Donald E. Wold, President <br />of the North Suburban COuncil on Civil Rights, which req~ested the <br />same action. <br /> <br />Matter referred to Attorney Courtney to draft a proposed Ordinance <br />which would establish an Arden Hills Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />REPORT OF ATTORNEY VINCENT P. COURTNEY <br /> <br />Purchase Contract - Van truck <br />Attorney Courtney submitted a purchase contract prepared by him and <br />recommended Its execution. He Informed .the Council that the bids <br />had been reviewed by Robert McNlesh, Chairman of the Public Works <br />Committee, and W. Brunette, Water Department employee. <br /> <br />Councilman Crepeau moved that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to <br />execute the contract between Arden Hllis and Southvlew Chevrolet for <br />the purchase of a van truck for the amount of $3,028.00; seconded <br />by Councilman Hollenhorst; motion carried. <br /> <br />Used EQuipment Purchase <br />Attorney Courtney Informed the Council that the purchase of the used <br />equipment from Fred Nixon by the Village has been finalized, but <br />there Is stili a charge of $35.00 for title search and filing fees. <br />The Council determined that the Village would pay this additional <br />charge; Attorney Courtney will take care of this matter. <br /> <br />Rosevllle-Arden Hills Water Contract <br />Attorney Courtney gave a status report of this contract; he Informed <br />the Council that Attorney Beil, Rosevllle, has submitted a new draft <br />of the contract between Rosevllle and Arden Hills and a second rider <br />between Rosevllle and St. Paul. He reported that the Water Committee <br />met for discussion and had contacted Ai-torneyBel! and Richard <br />Turniund, Rosevllle Administrator. The CommIttee will meet again <br />this week. <br /> <br />Shorevlew Water ReQuest <br />A letter, dated March 29, 1968, from Shorevlew requesting water, Is <br />being studied, but no action will be taken until the Rosevllle-Arden <br />Hills water contract is signed. <br /> <br />Water Tank Contract <br />Attorney Courtney summarIzed a letter, which wIll fo!low, concerning <br />the contract returned from Plttsburgh-DesMolnes Steel Company, low <br />bidder on the water tank; he stated that there was a technIcal <br />ommlsslon. Therefore, he has sent the contract back to them for <br />correction. Attorney Courtney recommended approval of the contract, <br />subject to thIs correction. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
