<br /> .. <br />- ~ <br /> ~~HILLS <br /> Approved November 14,2005 <br /> eITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br /> eITY eOUNeIL WORK SESSION MEETING <br /> OeTOBER 11, 2005, 6:00 P.M. <br /> CITY HALL eOUNeIL eHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Aplikowski called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. <br /> Present: Mayor Aplikowski, Councilmembers Grant, Holden, and Larson. <br /> Absent: Councilmember Lois Rem. <br /> Staff Present: City Administrator, Michelle Wolfe; Director of Operations & <br /> Maintenance, Thomas Moore; and Finance Director, Murtuza Siddiqui. <br /> Storm elean-Uo Update <br />. Mr. Moore provided a detailed listing of actions and events that had taken place starting from the <br /> day of the storm to the present day. He also provided specific details regarding the size of the <br /> clean-up crew as well as their current location. He mentioned that based on the current clean-up <br /> speed, the first round of clean-up is anticipated to be completed by this Friday, unless we are <br /> faced with rain, which would delay the process. <br /> Ms. Wolfe mentioned that staff is putting together a list for the second round of clean-up. Mr. <br /> Moore and Ms. Wolfe provided an overview of the number of hours and the type of <br /> equipment/trucks that were being used for the clean-up. It was mentioned that as of October 5, <br /> 2005, the clean-up cost is $91,902 plus tax. Based on the remaining clean-up, it is anticipated that <br /> the total cost will be about $200,000. <br /> Ms. Holden and Mr. Grant expressed concem about not receiving estimates up into the second <br /> week of the clean-up. An estimate should have been provided prior to starting the clean-up <br /> program. Ms. Wolfe mentioned that perhaps the City could have waited to start the clean-up aIler <br /> a thorough analysis. Ms. Aplikowski mentioned that there was a state of an emergency and clean- <br /> up had to start. Mr. Larson mentioned that the City did not have a choice but to proceed with the <br /> clean-up. If the City had waited for an analysis, we would not be able to get a contractor with the <br /> proper equipment as they were getting booked by other cities. Ms. Wolfe mentioned that the <br /> clean-up took much longer than anticipated. Mr. Larson said that staff approached the situation in <br /> a reasonable mamler. <br />.
