' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Counel I Meeting <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br />June 29, 1970 <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNC~LMAN STANLEY OLMEN - Public Works <br /> <br />Termination of Employees <br />It was moved by Councilman Staniey O!men t~at because of the <br />cut-back In Village expenditures and anticipated hiring of some <br />services by outside contractors, the Public Works Department <br />staff be reduced by two permanent employees; those having the <br />least seniority, effective July 14, ~970. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman John Hollenhorst and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Maintenance Supervisor Everett Beecher was authorized to grant <br />sufficient time off during the next two week period to allow these <br />employees to seek ot~er employment. <br /> <br />Lead Man Selection Basis - Public Works Department <br />It was moved by Councilman Jo~n Hoilenhorst that a resolution <br />be approved stipulating that the Council approves a procedure <br />that a "Lead Man" be selected on the basis of merit and not <br />on the basis of seniority; seconded by Councilman E. Gray <br />Henderson; motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Water Shut-Off Procedure <br />Maintenance Supervisor Everett Beecher was requested to caution <br />the construction contractors about unauthorized water s~ut-offs, <br />and required him to notify residents In. advance of proposed shut- <br />offs when t~ey become necessary. <br /> <br />Mr. Roger Reiling, Chairman of Public Works Committee <br />Mr. Roger Rei ling summarized a draft of a letter to the Council <br />whiCh he had prepared, cl~ing mis-givlngs he had as Chairman of <br />the Public Works Committee, and requested that the Council give <br />some direction as to what Is expected of t~G Committee. <br /> <br />After discussion. It was decided that the Council and the Public <br />Works Committee schedule a joint meeting at which time the <br />responsibilities of the Public Works Committee will be clarified <br />and outlined. The Committee was requested by the Council to prepare <br />a tentative budget proposal for 1971 for review as soon as possible. <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR HENRY J. Gray Henderson that the appointment of the New <br />Brighton BuHei'in be continued through the month of July, 1970; <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Police Department - Sa~ary Adjustments <br />It was moved by Councilman John Hal lenhorst that the Po!lce <br />Department Salary Adjustments be approved as submitted and attached; <br />the motloo was seconded by Councilman Ronald Herrick and carried <br />unanimously, <br /> <br />REPORT OF CLERK ADM1H1STRATOR LORRAINE STROMQUIST <br /> <br />Service Station License Applications <br />Clerk Administrator Lorra!ne Stromquist presented two service <br />station license applications for approval: <br /> <br />I. Skeliy Oi i Company - 3833 North Lexington Avenue <br />2. Solar Fuel Stop - 3130 Johanna Boulevard <br /> <br />It was moved by Councllman Ronald Herrick that the licenses be <br />granted as requested; seconded by Counei Iman Stanley Olmen; motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Water Assessment Request <br />A letter from the property owner, James Perron, 20115 West County <br />Road D, was submitTed by Clerk AdministraTor Lorraine Stromquist, <br /> <br />-5- <br />
