10- .
and modifications of that plan by conversation on November 2 ,
411
1970 , narrowing the road fifteen feet to enlarge the field area .
In November , the Engineer told Mr . Beggin that with the shallow
grassy ditch along right field line and sand mixed with black
dirt for the field ' s top soil , very adequate drainage would be
accomplished . The Banister estimates as of that November 2
conversation for the large field totaled $4 , 616. 00 , $ 1 ,004 . 00
in addition would be needed for development of that field plus
the multiple use field across the roadway ( that area to include
two softball fields convertible to one football or one soccer
field ) . These estimates include bulldozing , seeding the outfield ,
sodding the infield and one backstop . Sodding the large out-
field would be an additional $548 ( sod-delivered-only price ) .
Ten foot II -gauge fencing would be an additional $5 ,000 . 00 . The
estimate does not include top soil mix , water facilities ,
roadway or parking lot surfaces .
The Committee felt the estimates too low to be rea-
listic. They also expressed a very strong interest in building
a sprinkling system at the time of construction . If toilets are
eventually to be built within the park, then these pipes ought
to be laid at the same time . After suggestion by F . Bear , it was
agreed that Banister Engineering ought to be asked about
estimates for water service to future toilet facilities , the
feasibility of using plastic pipes for the main line and/or
sprinkling systems to both areas of grass .
If the park is to be used this summer , it will be
necessary to get firm estimates on grading , seed and/or sod , top-
