HISTORY
The original eleven acres of Floral Park were purchased on
recommendation of the Parks & Recreation Committee in December
of 1965 . Three years later in 1969 , an additional nine acres
were obtained adjacent to Floral Park as a possible site for
an Arden Hills Civic Center.
Later in 1969, several landscape architecture firms were inter-
viewed with the development of a preliminary municipal center
concept in mind. However, development of the civic center was
delayed because of financial considerations . Finally in 1973 ,
the civic center site was redesignated as a part of Floral Park.
Three landscape architecture students at the University of
Minnesota were hired in June 1975 to develop concept plans for
the development of Floral Park. These plans were presented in
September and received approval of the committee . The next
step will be for the Parks and Recreation Committee to develop
a specific plan based on the information obtained from that
study.
411
