<br />-.~- <br /> <br />~.~ <br /> <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEET~NG <br />VilLAGE OF AROEN HillS <br />Monday - February 9, 1970 - 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor Henry J. <br />Crepeau, Jr. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Mayor Henry J. Crepeau, Jr., Councilmen Olmen, Hoilenhorst, <br />Henderson and Herrick <br />Absent: None <br />Also Present: Planning Commission Chairman Larry McGough, Fire <br />Chief Harry Ehlers, Clerk Administrator Lorraine <br />Stromquist, Treasurer Worth G. Read, Attorney Vincent <br />P. Courtney, Engineer Donald Lund, Public Works <br />Supervisor Everett Beecher, and Assistant Clerk, <br />Administration Dorothy Zehm <br /> <br />Ap~roval of Minutes <br />The Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of January 26, 1970 <br />were approved as presented. <br /> <br />BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR <br /> <br />Po I I ut ion Contro I ~_CC?!llJTl I ttee Meet!...!!.9. <br />Fire Chief Harry Ehlers reported that the Pollution Control <br />Commission met with three of the garbage and rubbish haulers, <br />presently licensed in the Vll-lage, advising that they definitely <br />will be able to handle a "complete pick-up" service for Arden <br />Hills - garbage, rubbish, leaves, grass clippings, etc. He <br />explained that this service would not, of course, Include the <br />removal of old refrigerators, building materials, etc. These <br />Items would be contracted for seperately, as ~hey are under the <br />present system. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehlers explained that: <br /> <br />1. landfill problems are anticipated In the future, as <br />present areas are filled, probably causing an Increase <br />In rates to compensate for additional travel expense. <br /> <br />2. a system of "liners" will probably be instigated to <br />alleviate the additional haul ing. <br /> <br />3. curb pick-up of bags of leaves and grass clippings <br />may be requested, but curb pick-up would not be <br />required for garbage and other trash cans. <br /> <br />Minnesota Fire Code <br />Mr. Ehlers recommended that Arden Hills consider the eventual <br />appointment of a FIre Marshall and the probable future adoption <br />of the Minnesota Fire Code. The Council referred the fire code <br />to the Planning Commission for study and recommendations to the <br />Counc II. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE ATTORNEY VINCENT P. COURTNEY <br /> <br />Acquisition of Tax-Forfeited land <br />A Resolution Autll.or"izing A..QE.' ication By The _Vi Ilage Of Arden Hills <br />For Conveyance or Ta~-Forfelted Lands, and a Resolution Re Tax- <br />Forfeited Lands, certifying the c~assificatlon of the land as <br />non-conservation land and authorizing tiling of a certified copy <br />of the Resolution with the Office of the Land Commissioner, were <br />read by Attorney Courtney. <br /> <br />Councilman Hollenhorst moved approval of both resolutions, <br />authorizing execution by the Mayor and Clerk Administrator; motion <br />was seconded by Counci Iman Herrick and carried unanimously_ <br /> <br />.- ....~ <br />~.~ <br />
