ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION
AUGUST 18, 2003 2
. and, as a result of the recent construction relative to the Guidant project, to
reconstruct Cummings Park Drive.
Mr. Brown reported that the cost savings to the City could reach twenty-thousand
dollars if the Council chose to go ahead with the opportunity now, rather than wait
until 2004.
Councilmember Larson asked if it would be feasible to coordinate the project
with the pumping of Karth Lake, and take advantage of the vacated water main and
use that as the pipeline for the water pumped from Karth Lake.
Mr. Brown said Councilmember Larson's idea was interesting, and said he would
research the possibility. He also presented the 2003 PMP Construction Project
Status recap.
The Council agreed that staff should bring the project back for approval at the
August 25, 2003 meting.
. 3.B Ingerson Stop Sign
Mayor Aplikowski explained that she had received several letters from Arden
Hills residents, who requested a STOP sign be installed at the Ingerson
Road/Court/Femwood intersection.
Resident Linda Swanson reported that she had undertaken a resident survey of
the residents in the Ingerson Road/Ingerson Court/Femwood Avenue area, and the
results were as follows:
. 15 residents NOT HOME
. 21 residents NO STOP SIGN
. 3 residents YES STOP SIGN
. 4 residents UNDECIDED
Ms. Swanson explained that several Minnesota engineering studies supported the
notion that installing STOP signs did not necessarily control speeds or act as traffic
calming devices.
Councilmember Larson stated he agreed that the City should wait until after the
. 2003 PMP project was complete before it reviewed the STOP sign issue.
