Minnesota Hlghw~y Department, Letter. dated May I, 1972 <br /> <br />The letter and attached traffic count records were discussed. <br />The Arden Hills police department will conduct some Independ- <br />ent traffIc counts for our records. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Council agreed that a letter should be sent reiterating <br />our long rungs Intention that (I) Arden Hills doas not approve <br />the Highway 51 plans, making 51 Dnd Snelling a major Inter- <br />section, Ilnd (2) that we feel the Highway Dept. should have <br />some means of slowing traffic In that vicinity to 50 mph. <br /> <br />The Council noted the small number of accidents listed at <br />the Intersoctlon, taken from figures submitted with the May I <br />letter, and questioned the need for signalization. Mayor and <br />Clerk Administrator to compose letter to Highway Department <br />following Arden Hills traffic survey. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Meetln!ls <br /> <br />Annual Meeting, Metro league of Municipalities <br /> <br />Councilman Hollenhorst will attend the meetIng. He asked for <br />Council Input on the following legislative proposals: Utility <br />Regulations, Environment, Transportation, Land Use, Housing, <br />Government Structure and Government Finance. The meeting will <br />., <br />be Thursday, June 8. <br />Metro Sawer <br /> <br />CouncilMan Henderson to attend a Metro Council meeting relating <br />to Metro Sewe~ 5-year budget and Metro sewer benefits. <br /> <br />Sllfety Award <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau presented a 1971 Meritorious Achievement Award <br />to Arden Hili,s from the Minnesota Safety Council, Inc., given <br />In recognition of outstanding accident prevention performance <br />In traffic safety education and enforcement. <br /> <br />3. AdmInistrative Office Employee <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau presented a request from the Clerk Administrator <br />to hire a temporary office employee for a 12-week period, needed <br />because of extra summar season work and 8 scheduled employee <br />vacations. The Council agreed to the request, asking that <br />employee be hired at minimum wage, If possible. <br /> <br />CLERK ADMINISTRATOR LORRAINE STROMQUIST <br /> <br />I.
