1 <br /> <br /> <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Parks & Recreation Manager <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable to: Assistant Public Works Director <br />Positions Supervised: Recreation Supervisor and Seasonal Recreation Staff <br />Status: Full Time <br /> January 2025 <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVES <br />Performs difficult technical work planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating City-wide Parks & <br />Recreation programs, and related duties as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited <br />supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director. Continuous supervision is exercised over the Recreation <br />Supervisor, assigned programming and with limited supervision over seasonal positions. <br />QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. <br />The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable <br />accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION <br />Oversees the Recreation Supervisor to organize, plan and implement all recreation programs including after <br />school programs, special events, youth programs including but not limited to baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer <br />leagues, ice skating programs, summer playgrounds, tennis, summer camps, sport skills classes, and adult <br />programs. <br /> <br />Reviews and recommends fee structure and fee schedule for recreation programs based on instructor costs, <br />material costs, facility fees, and cost recovery policies. <br /> <br />Responsible for short and long term issues relating to parks and recreational areas and facilities, including parks <br />uses, City ordinances, policies, acquisition, development of facilities and trails; and recreation program needs. <br /> <br />Coordinates with the Public Works Director, Assistant Public Works Director and Public Works Superintendent <br />in managing the maintenance and operations program for City parks. <br /> <br />Assists the Public Works Director with managing park planning, park development, asset management and <br />capital improvement projects for parks and recreation. <br /> <br />Prepares & recommends the annual Parks & Recreation Department operating budget to the Public Works <br />Director. <br /> <br />Prepares & recommends the Parks Department 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the Public Works <br />Director. Develops and maintains a 10-year capital project outlook as it relates to Parks & Recreation. <br /> <br />Develops, utilizes and maintains Parks Improvement planning materials such as a Parks Master Plan. <br /> <br />Evaluates the condition of City parks, playground equipment, amenities and trails.
