CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MN <br />CONTRACT FOR THE COLLECTION OF RESIDENTIAL RECYCLABLE MATERIALS Page 6 <br />boxes for delivery and take out pizzas; phone books; kraft <br />bags; and magazines/catalogs (OMG). <br /> <br />Plastic Food and <br />Beverage Containers <br />Bottle and rigid plastic containers made of PET (plastic type #1), <br />HDPE (plastic type #2), and PP (plastic type #5). <br /> <br />PET Plastic bottles and non-bottle plastic containers made <br />from polyethylene terephthalate (e.g., soft drink, water, <br />other bottles, deli clamshells, etc.). <br /> <br />PP Containers made from polypropylene. <br /> <br />Process Residuals The materials that cannot be recycled due to material characteristics <br />such as size, shape, color, cross-material contamination, etc., which <br />must be disposed as mixed municipal solid waste. Process residuals <br />include (but are not limited to): bulky items, contaminants, sorted <br />tailings, floor sweepings and rejects from specific processing <br />equipment (e.g., materials cleaned from screens, etc.). Process <br />residuals do not include clean, separated products that are normally <br />processed and prepared for shipment to markets as commodities but <br />which are of relatively low value because of depressed market <br />demand conditions. <br /> <br />Processing The sorting, volume reduction, baling, cleaning, containment or <br />other preparation of recyclable materials delivered to the <br />processing center for transportation or marketing purposes. <br /> <br />Processing Fee Agreed upon unit fee allocated towards Contractor’s cost of <br />processing various types of recyclables. <br /> <br />Producer Occupants of a RDU or MDU property who generate recyclable <br />materials. <br /> <br />Recyclable <br />Materials or <br />Recyclables <br /> <br />The current list of household recyclables established through <br />guidelines released under the authority of the City. The current <br />list of recyclables, as of the date of Contract Execution, includes: <br />Newspaper and Newspaper Inserts; Magazines and Catalogs; <br />Junk Mail and Envelopes; Cardboard; Office and School Paper; <br />Phone Books; Cereal and Cracker-type boxes; Shoeboxes; <br />Brown Paper Sacks/Bags; Aluminum, Steel and Tin Cans, Scrap <br />Metal less than 3 feet in length; Glass Bottles and Jars, Plastic <br />Bottles and Cups; Plastic Food Containers, Tubs, Bowls, Yogurt <br />Cups and Margarine/Whip Cream Tubs; Plastic Milk Jugs and <br />Paper Milk Cartons; Juice Boxes; and other Paper/Aseptic <br />Cartons.
