ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - OCTOBER 12,1999 9
. Councilmember Rem stated that the Parks and Recreation Committee would be touring the local
parks on Saturday, October 16, 1999.
Councilmember Rem stated that she would be attending a Human Rights Committee meeting in
Shoreview on Wednesday, October 13, 1999.
Councilmember Rem stated that she had attended the North Heights church anniversary party
last weekend.
Councilmember Rem stated that the School Board held a forum on Monday, October II, 1999.
She stated that the forum will be broadcast on television channels 13 and 22. An additional
forum will be held on Thursday, October 14, 1999 at lrondale High School.
Councilmember Rem stated that she will be attending the local government tour of the TCAAP
area on Thursday, October 14, 1999. Mayor Probst stated that he would not be available to
attend tl1is tour.
With regard to the 1-35W Corridor Coalition, Mayor Probst stated that the presentation had gone
well and had the desired effect. He indicated that there was a public website available with a
password protected database and recommended that anyone who has not seen this database
review this website. The database allows a person to look at the entire City and zoom to any
parcel.
. Mayor Probst stated that the slide presentation was handed out after the meeting to allow the
audience to have a follow-up piece from the presentation. As Dave Windle was going through
the GIS portion of the presentation, compact disks with the entire Corridor Coalition on them
were handed out to the Metropolitan Council Commissioners. He offered tile compact disk he
was given to the Councilmembers to review.
Councilmember Malone asked if specific software was needed to run the compact disk. Mayor
Probst stated that the compact disk contained a demonstration and he believed that special
software would not be needed to run it.
Mayor Probst stated that the Metropolitan Council meeting had been positive for tile I-35W
Corridor Coalition, the City of Arden Hills, and all the other communities involved. Although
there had been good attendance, Chair MondaIe had not attended the meeting. The audience
stayed through the entire presentation and remained after the meeting was adjourned to discuss
the presentation.
Mayor Probst thanked Councilmembers Aplikowski and Rem for attending the Metropolitan
Council meeting. He felt that the presentation had come together well even though there had not
been any rehearsals. If the grant is approved, it will allow the Coalition to perform a build-out
study. The goal was to deal with the fact that, if all the communities within the Coalition built-
. out according to their future plans, this would result in gridlock of the entire area. The
presentation provided a model with other variations of how to make the build-out work and keep
the local communities viable.
