He explained <br />that Bethel had made an attempt to place rip-rap In various places <br />last year, which had the endorsement of thl Rice Creek Watershed <br />District, but increased pressure has washed It away. McLeod asked <br />if Bethel could expect some financial assistance to correct the <br />problem. <br /> <br />In discussion, i,t was noted that much of the Increased water runoff <br />is from i'he development of lands east of L<'xington Avenue; Rice <br />'Creek Watershed Is currently studying the overall drainage of the <br />area. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />McLeod said that Bethel has been considsrirg various proposals and <br />wll! prob<lbly accept the rai Iroad tie rip-r'ap proposal, which is <br />guaranteed and is estimated to cost S4~90D (for about 100 feet). <br />It was suggested that perhaps the question of financial aid for the <br />project could be posed to Rice Creek Water!hed. McLeod stated that <br />Rice Creek wi Ii have no funds for probably 2 years. <br /> <br />Christoffersen explained that meandering s':reams (ditches) are <br />subj€lct to erosion, and suggeS"led several alternative methods to <br />reduce the velocity; the proposed rip-rap froject wi II protect <br />for a tlme, but may be only temporary - slDw down of flow for entire <br />area, which is currentJy under st~dy, will ultimately protect this <br />are.a. <br /> <br />~ussard Court Drainage Problem - Lot 10 <br />Christoffersen displayed a map of Bussard Iddition, and Indicated <br />the location of the drainage pipe and rip-lappet! ditch, which empties <br />Into Lake Johanna.
