Dretfus Irjterstate DeveloplnEJfl-j- Corporation - Varlanf.!!. <br />for SIC]'l <br />WIngert referred the Counci I to a model of the proposed sign and ex- <br />plalnedthat the sign is Intended as a permanent marker for Hunters <br />Park, to be located on the southwest corner of Harriet Avenue and <br />Be nton Way. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WIngert reviewed the Board of Appeals and Planning Commission recom- <br />mendations, noting that the Board of Appeals, In a spilt decision, <br />recommends Counci I approval, and the Planning Commission, also In a <br />spilt decision, recommends denial. <br /> <br />Wingert moved, seconded by Crichton, that the Councl I deny the perma- <br />nent Hunters Park sign, as requested by Dreyfus Interstate Develop- <br />ment Corporation, as being contrary to the established character of <br />residential areas of the Vi I lage of Arden Hills. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Case No. 74-39. Bennett Goldberg - Variance for Sign <br />Wingert described the proposed Red Fox Inn sign as a 7' high x 8' wide <br />rectangular, plastic, translucent, Internally lit sign, on top of the <br />existing 15' pylon; sign wll I extend above roof of building and exceed <br />the maximum 16' sign height by 6'. <br /> <br />Wingert reviewed the Board of Appeals and Planning Commission recom- <br />mendations to approve the sign as requested. <br /> <br />Wingert moved, seconded by Olmen, that the Councl I approve the request <br />from Estben, Inc. for a sign for the Red Fo:{ inn, as submitted In the <br />sign sketch. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Cas~ No. 72-35, Pemtom, Inc. - Preilmlnarv Plat Ap-l1rov~1 of Sevent!!. <br />AddltlQn, Townhouse VI I lages of Arden HI lis <br />Mr. James Hill presented an amended Prellmlmary Plat for Addition <br />Seven, dated 4-2-74, which Incorporates the parking change and e~larged <br />radius recommended by the Planning Commission on April 2, 1974, and <br />also Indicates the expanded distance between two buildings as the re- <br />sult of the substitution of "F" units Instead of "I" units. <br /> <br />In discussion of the Installation of utilities prior to platting of <br />Addition 7, It was noted that there appears to be no serIous problem <br />on. thIs plat, but concern was expressed for the need for procedural <br />clarification to ascertain that future plats are approved prior to <br />the Installation of sewer lines and water mains, etc. <br /> <br />Wingert moved, seconded by C"ichton, that the Council approve the <br />Preliminary Plat for Townhouse Vi I !ages at Arden Hi lis, Seventh <br />Addition (dated 4-2-74). Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />_Prop-osed amended north area - Pemtom, Inc. <br />Mr. Hill briefly described the proposed plans for the north area of <br />the Pemtom site. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />For Council reference, approved plans of the overall Pemtom site, the <br />Special Use Permit, and other supporting documentation was requested <br />to be available for Council review at the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Case No. 74-7. Arsenal Property. RezonlnC] <br />Wingert briefly descrIbed the recommendations to the Council from the <br />Parks Committee, Village Planner and Planning Commission re zoning <br />possibilities for the arsenal. <br /> <br />Mr. Buckley outlined on a map the three areas recommended for parks <br />and open space by the Parks Committee - the eastern Marsden Lake area <br />(wild life), the western Rice Creek flood plain (canoe trail) and the <br />mounds area (geological structure and ski hi II I. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
