<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />pageffour <br /> <br />February 25, 1974 <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN CHARLES CRICHTON - PUblic Works, Ordinance Review <br /> <br />Northwestern Bel f Telepho~e Compan~ - Permit ApRllcatJon for Instal- <br />lation of Underground Cable. <br />Crichton moved, seconded by Wingert, that the Council concur with <br />the recommendatIon of the Underground Uti Iltles Committee, and Bud <br />Johansen, to approve the Installation of underground telephone cable <br />along the south right-of-way of Highway 96, from Highway 10 to <br />Hamllne Avenue, as requested, with two stipulations: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I. Arden Hills' driveways to Village Hall and Public Works <br />Building be replaced to the approval of Arden Hills. <br />2. No cut be made Into paved surface of Snelling Avenue. <br /> <br />Motion carried unanimOUSly. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN WILLIAM FEYERE1SEN - Parks and Recreation, <br />Human Rights <br /> <br />Student Intern <br />Feyerelsen reported that the Parks and Recreation Committee recommends <br />accepting Laurie Allen's proposal to work, under her Senior Intern- <br />ship Program at the U. of M, In the Village Parks and Recreation <br />Department during the summer, helping with program planning, organizing <br />and Implementing the summer recreation program. <br /> <br />Playground EqulRm~nt Purchase <br />Fayerelsen moved, seconded by Crichton, that the Council approve the <br />pMrChase of the equipment as listed on 1974 - Park Improvement <br />Recommendations for Park Equipment. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />SI\atlnQ Rinks <br />Feyerelsen reported that the rinks are Inoperable and Irreparable <br />because of thawing temperatures and moved. seconded by Wingert, that <br />the Council approves closing the rinks effective 2/25/74. Motion <br />carried unanimOUSly. <br /> <br />Salary for Bobble Mischke <br />.,qrl,:;hton moved, seconded by Feyerel san. that the Council approve pay- <br />m~nt of the salary of Bobble Mischke, skating instructor, In the amount <br />of $101.25, as recommended in memo to Councl, dated 2/25/74, from J. <br />Buckley. Motion carried unanimOUSly. <br /> <br />Park iicQiJisltion <br />Dr. A. 810mquist, Chairman of Parks and Recreation Real Estate Sub- <br />committee, reported the Sub-committee's desire to proceed with appraisals <br />on one or the other of two approxlma+e I y 25-acre parcel sin the Karth <br />Lake area, for park acquisition. <br /> <br />After diSCUSSion, and review of a map on which the Subject properties <br />were outlined, the Council suggested that the SUb-committee proceed <br />with an Informal appraisal of the Amble parcel(sl, If agreeable to <br />the property owner; advising Council of findings on March Iii but not <br />to pursue the other parcel at this time. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1i!:!!lan RIQhtsCommlsslon <br />Feyerelsen reported that the Human Rights Commission Is organizing into <br />specialty groups for reports to the Commission, rather than al I working <br />In generalities. <br /> <br />It was noted that Mr. North was appoInted as a Human Rights Commission <br />ad hoc member to work on the housing study; apparently Involved In <br />studies other than housing at this time. Feyerelsen to Inquire if <br />this change Is requested, or If a larger Commission is recommended. <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR HENRY J. CREPEAU, JR. - General Government, Pv~llc <br />Safety <br /> <br />~.~!y ~i.iy~tme~~Recommendation <br />Crichton reviewed the salary adjustment recommendation, and the salary <br />schsdule \;hich .,as approved as of January 1,1974, suggesting that <br />Chief Sexton prepal"e a "ranking" list for Council consideration, based <br />on criteria used in proposing this request for salary adjustment. <br /> <br />-4- <br />
