Technical Memorandum
Hydraulic Model Review
March 9, 2018

Scenario 1A: Improvements for increasing storage levels within Arden Hill South Tower
The analysis was completed with the following improvements:
1. Improvements listed under Scenario 1.
2. Implementation of tower level controls at the Roseville Water Tower.
3. Additional 16-inch water main along Hamline from Josephine to Snelling.
x Water storage analysis
- Tank levels in Figure 1D show improved storage levels within the South
Water Tower to maintain a minimum level of approximately 50% capacity
to allow for fire and emergency storage.
- Based on these system improvements, analysis was performed to
determine the capacity of system storage for fire demands. As shown in
Figure 1E, the system was able to provide capacity for a 3,500 gpm fire
over duration of 3 hours.
Key items to note:
1. The available fire flow within the TCAAP are is greater than 3,500 gpm without a new
water tower.
2. Water storage within the North Zone is adequate to meet a 3,500 gpm fire for 3 hours.
3. City should consider working with Roseville for tower level controls to the Roseville Tank
and some trunk water main improvements between the two systems.
Scenario 2: Future System – New Pump Station/New Water Tower and TCAAP Water Main
(No water main along Snelling Avenue)
Evaluation of the future system to determine pressures and available fire flow to
the TCAAP Area. The analysis was completed with the following improvements
and demand conditions:
1. New Pump Station
2. New Water Tower (1 million gallons)
3. Water main improvements within the TCAAP Area.
4. Implementation of tower level controls at the Roseville Water Tower
5. Additional 16-inch water main along Hamline from Josephine to Snelling.
6. Water demands were based on future planned growth to 2040.
