Water Distribution System Hydraulic Model Calibration and System Evaluation Report
Chapter 2 – Existing Water Distribution System
December 2019

P05049-2019-000 Page 6

2.1.4 Pumping Facilities
The East Side Booster Station is equipped with 2 booster pumps. The North Tower is filled
using electronic pump setpoints at the East Side Booster Station. The pumps are sized
identically and are designed to operate with only one pump running at a time in alternating
fashion. Pump data was taken from name plates on the existing pumps and documentation
supplied by the City of Arden Hills. The pumps are sized as follows:
x Pumps No. 1 & 2– American-Marsh
o 1,500 gpm / 100 TDH
o 125 Hp
o Model: 6x8-12 RH
o 1750 RPM

The corresponding pump curves were placed into the water system model and their capacity
was reviewed to determine what various pumping scenarios could produce. When these
pumping capabilities were reviewed, the scenarios were set up to create the highest possible
amount of system head for the pumps to overcome. This consisted of the following conditions:
(1) No water demand allocations in the distribution system which placed all of the demand
at the North Tower and creates the highest amount of head loss.
(2) The North Tower is nearly full at a depth of 38 feet.
(3) The South Tower is at a minimum depth of 36 feet.

The results of the 3 pumping scenarios are illustrated in Figure 2-2.
