City of Arden Hills
Project B2502087
May 15, 2025
Page 2

Sample Analytical Parameters

Five samples were analyzed for the baseline sediment parameters pursuant to MPCA guidelines.
The parameters were as follows:

Metals – arsenic, cadmium, chromium III, chromium VI, copper, lead, mercury, nickel,
selenium, and zinc by SW-846 EPA 6020/7471B.

Total phosphorus using method EPA 365.1.

Nitrate & nitrite using EPA 353.2.

Ammonia nitrogen using EPA 350.1.

Total Kjeldahl nitrogen using EPA 351.2.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) using method SW-846 8082A.

Total organic carbon using SW-846-9060.

Extended List, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) using EPA 8270E SIM.

Results

Sediment Profile
Sediments observed during the completion of the borings consisted primarily of a dark brown to black
silty sand. Organic/decay odors were noted in the material collected from the O-2 through O-5 borings.

Sediment Chemistry
The results of laboratory analysis are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory analytical reports are also
enclosed.

PAHs
PAHs were detected at or above the reporting limit within each sample analyzed.
Non-carcinogenic PAHs were not reported at concentrations greater than Tier 1 SRVs.
The benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) equivalent for the samples varied. Calculated concentrations
ranged from below the Tier 1 and 2 Soil Reference Values (SRVs) within O-1, to between the
Tier 1 and 2 SRVs within O-2, O-4, and O-5, to above the Tier 2 SRV within O-3.
