City of Arden Hills
Project B2502087
May 15, 2025
Page 3

PCBs
 PCBs were not detected at or above the laboratory reporting limit in the samples analyzed,
thus total reported PCBs for each analyzed sample were below the Tier 1 and 2 SRVs.

Metals
 Cadmium, hexavalent chromium, selenium and mercury were not detected at or above the
reporting limit (RL) within the sample analyzed.

 Arsenic, total chromium, copper, lead, nickel and zinc were detected at concentrations
above the laboratory reporting limit within the sample analyzed. However, the
concentrations were less than the Tier 1 and Tier 2 SRVs established for each compound.

Other
Ammonia, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate + nitrite, total phosphorous, and total organic carbon were
detected at various concentrations in the samples. Management criteria have not been established for
these compounds. We understand that the MPCA requirement to include these compounds is geared
toward end-use of the dredged sediments and the results should be provided to disposal facilities or
receiving parties for their use. Additional consultation with the MPCA regarding land application criteria
and approvals may be required.

Please refer to Table 1 for a detailed summary of the analytical results.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

A data quality assessment of field procedures and laboratory reports was performed to determine the
effect of any deviations on data quality and used to support project objectives. All applicable
Braun Intertec SOPs were followed as prescribed unless otherwise noted in this report. Notable findings
are provided in more detail below and incorporated, where necessary, into this report.

Soil samples were placed in clean, laboratory-supplied containers, preserved, labeled, and transported
to Eurofins laboratory in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Pace laboratory in Minneapolis, Minnesota under
refrigerated conditions using chain-of-custody procedures. Eurofins subcontracted hexavalent
chromium to Eurofins laboratory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and total organic carbon (TOC) analysis to
Eurofins laboratory in Arvada, Colorado. Chain-of-custody forms were reviewed at sample check-in and
determined to be in general agreement with the contents of the sample coolers. Analyses were
performed using EPA or other recognized standard procedures, and samples were analyzed within the
EPA recommended holding times.
