<br />. .. <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br />Village of Arden Hills <br />Monday, June 29, 1981 - 7:30 p.m. <br />Village Hall <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Pursuant to due call snd notice thereof, Mayor Woodburn <br />called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Preaent <br /> <br />- Mayor Robert Woodburn, Councilmen Maurice <br />Johnson, Diane McAllister, James Wingert, <br />Janet Ho11enhorst <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Absent <br /> <br />- None <br /> <br />Also Present - Engineer Donald Christoffersen, Planner <br />Or1yn Miller, Clerk Administrator Charlotte <br />McNIesh, Deputy Clerk Dorothy Zehm <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Wingert moved, seconded by Johnson, that the Minutes of <br />the Special Council Meeting of June 22, 1981 be approved <br />as amended. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Johnson moved, seconded by Wingert, thst the Minutes of <br />the Special Cou~cil Meeting of June 25, 1981 be approved <br />as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Business from the Floor <br />None <br /> <br />Proposed Improvement of Sne1ling/Hamline Intersection <br />Mark Wikelius - Mn DOT <br />Wike1ius presented a proposed layout of a directional <br />intersection st Ham1ine and Snelling which would separate <br />median cross-overs by 550 ft and provide for right turns <br />onto Snelling snd Ham1ine Avenues, closing the existing <br />median cross-over~ <br /> <br />Wike1ius noted that the proposal does not provide for a <br />left turn from G1enhi1l Road to the north. <br /> <br />In discussion, a right angle crossing with signalizstion <br />wss suggested. Wike1ius explained that signals are not <br />aafety devices; they designate right of way only, and <br />different types of accidents seem to occur; experience <br />has been that accidents increase with vo1um~ of traffiC. <br /> <br />After discussion, Council suggested that the proposal be <br />publicized by the newspapers for resident reaction to the <br />pre1imiuary layout, which was considered preferable to <br />previous proposals. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE ENGINEER DONALD CHRISTOFFERSEN <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Bid Award - 1981 Seal coating Project <br />Council was referred to a tabulation of the five bids <br />received, ranging from $28,435.70 to $33,318.00. <br /> <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Johnson, that Council award <br />the bid to Allied Blacktop Co. at $28,435.70. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Karth Lake West Improvement No. 78-3 <br />Final Payment <br />Council was referred to Christoffersen's letter re Karth <br />Lake West recommending acceptance of the work and final <br />pflyment. <br />
