<br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br /> <br />June 8, 1981 <br /> <br />Public Safety Committee Recommendations re Stop Signs in <br />Chatham Area <br />Johnson reported that the public Safety Committee recommends <br />that "Stop" signs be installed at the intersections of Chatham <br />Avenue and McCracken Lane snd Chatham Avenue and Chatham Court; <br />noted that subsequent to the meeting with the residents, he <br />received a phone call from spokesman Peter McCall that not all <br />residents are in favor of a stop sign at Chatham Avenue and <br />McCracken Lane because of the steep grade and resultant winter <br />problems; appears there is no objection to the stop sign instal- <br />lation at Chatham Court, which would help to slow traffic. <br /> <br />After discussion, Council referred the letter relative to stop <br />signs from Traffic Engineer Van Wormer to the Public Safety <br />Committee. Council discussed whether "yield" signs would be <br />an effective control of speed and issuance of "warning" tickets. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Ho11enhorst, that Council deny the <br />request for stop signs in the internal Chatham area based on <br />Van Wormer's report of 6-8-81; a copy of which is to be forwarded <br />to Pe te r McCall. Motion c4rried unanimously. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE MC NIESH <br /> <br />Resolution No. 81-38, Apportionment of Assessments, Water <br />Improvement No. 68-3 - Johnson/Palmquist <br />Wingert moved, seconded by McAllister, that Council adopt Resol- <br />ution No. 81-38 re appGrtionment of Improvement No. 68-3 water <br />asseasments. Motion carried (Wingert, McAllister, Hol1enhorst, <br />Woodburn voting in favor of the motion; Johnson abstained). <br /> <br />Schedule Public Hearing re Proposed Request for Proposal <br />for a Cable Communications Franchise <br />Ho1lenhorst moved to schedule the public hearing at 8:30 p.m. <br />at the Village Hall on June 22, 1981. Motion was seconded by <br />Johnson and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Schedule Special Council Meeting - Breakfast Meeting <br />with Business District <br />Council concurred that a Special Council Breakfast Meeting ba <br />scheduled at 7:00 a.m. at McGuires on Thursday, June 25th. <br /> <br />Claims and Payroll <br />Johnson moved, aeconded by Wingert. that Council approve the <br />Claims and Payroll as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Reports <br />Jobnson referred to letter from Minnesota Pollution Control - <br />McNiesb reported tbat the City's copy of the report has not <br />been received to date. <br /> <br />Jobnson reported that residents on Karth Lake Circle want the <br />street posted as a "dead end"; matter was referred to the <br />Public Sufety Committee for rec01DlDendations. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />McAllister requested that someone substitute for her at the <br />ThurSday, June 11th Finance Committee Meeting; noted that <br />Treasurer Lamb would also be absent. Hollenhorst or Woodburn <br />will attend. <br /> <br />McAllister reported that the Parks Committee recommends that <br />the park dandelions be sprayed this fall. <br /> <br />McAllister referred to letter from Shakopee requesting support <br />in its chs1lenge of the Fiscal Disparities Law. Council concurred <br />to not join in the challenge. McNiesh to so advise. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
