POND (Cont'd) 'Ihere was discussion relative to the proceeding with <br /> condemnation of this property, estimate of city monies <br /> spent on the project to date, and possible cost participation by the developer of <br /> the Keithson Addition. <br /> No fonnal action taken on this matter. <br /> CJ::>UNCIL o::M1ENTS <br /> MN/oor LEITERi Council1nember Malone referred to the letter fram MN/oor <br /> HWY 51 & SNELLING regarding the intersection of Highway 51 and Snelling <br /> AVENUE, SAFEl'Y Avenue and the public safety concerns expressed by the <br /> o::>NCERNS city. <br /> Malone stated there does not appear to be a great number of a=idents recorded at <br /> this intersection over a five-year period. He suggested the City is not in a <br /> position to offer reconunendations f= control of this intersection and that the <br /> Administrator should be directed to request the MN/oor traffic engineers propose <br /> changes to the intersection for Council review. <br /> Counci1roember Hicks questioned the closure of the intersection. <br /> Council discussed closure of the intersection and recommended Ramsey County and <br /> LJVFD be contacted to determine public safety concerns if the intersection is <br /> closed. <br />. Council concurred to direct the Clerk Administrator to forward co=espondence to <br /> MN/oor relating the following: <br /> 1. 'Ihe Council would prefer to rely on the expertise of MN/oor engineers to <br /> determine the best solution f= reconfiguration of the intersection = other <br /> safety measures that could be :i1rqJlemented to reduce a=idents at this <br /> location. <br /> 2. That the RaIrsey County Sheriff's Deparbnent and Lake Johanna Vohmteer Fire <br /> Department be contacted to discuss the east/west access cancerns related to <br /> possible closure of the intersection. <br /> 3. That the Council is willing to review feasible alternatives for controlling <br /> the a=idents at this intersection that are suhnitted by MN/oor traffic <br /> engineers. <br /> 'Ihe Clerk Administrator advised he would forward the =respondence to the <br /> awropriate MN/oor officials. <br /> AlARM SYSl'EMi Counci1roember Malone questioned if the current alann <br /> STATUS REPORI' service provider has responded to an inquiry fram the <br /> City regarding the alann malfunction. <br /> 'Ihe Clerk reported the owner of the company has provided routine data regarding <br /> the alann functions. He stated he called Mr. Bertrand regarding this matter and <br /> was advised the alann panel located in the city Hall does not send a "low <br /> battery" signal to the alann company i when the battery ceased to operate, the <br />. company was not notified of the burglary alann. <br />
