ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION — JUNE 9, 2025 21
are livelier than our EDA. There are opportunities to talk about that as well as the money that is
supposed to go towards the EDA that we put towards regular Staff funding by paying their
salaries.
Councilmember Holden asked if we should be getting feedback from the EDC for the EDA. She
thinks it's repetitive.
Mayor Grant said there are other items that he thinks may resolve themselves.
Councilmember Monson said port-o-potties did. The ADA compliant port-o-potties are just built
into any park improvement now.
Mayor Grant said there are a number of items that would be better suited for discussion when
the Community Development Director is hired. That position will be posted this week. The
volunteer recognition item has to go to Personnel first. We have talked a little about ducks and
chickens.
Councilmember Holden thought the Buy Nothing/Clean Up Day was resolved. We were going
to do it.
Discussion ensued regarding if the Buy Nothing/Clean Up Day was resolved.
Mayor Grant said that falls under Administration. He thought maybe they could put something
together and provide some options.
Councilmember Weber said Accessory Dwelling Units and Cannabis discussion have been
mentioned for future work session topics but are not on the list. Funding of Lake Johanna Trail
should be on there, as well.
Councilmember Holden said it would help if we knew what the County was going to do.
Mayor Grant mentioned Garbage Collection (Mounds View Presentation). He said that is a big
item to tackle.
Councilmember Monson said Councilmember Holden has previously said it might be good to
wait until we have to do another RFP for recycling, that may be a good time to discuss garbage
collection. TCAAP will be single hauler. At some point, it would make sense for the entire City to
be single hauler.
Councilmember Holden thinks the item can be removed from the list until there is an appetite.
Right now we're building the roads and they meet the qualifications for the garbage hauler. Most
of our roads are less than ten years old.
Councilmember Rousseau asked if that is a topic for the strategic planning sessions.
Mayor Grant thought it could go into the strategic planning arena. He said it can stay on the list
but maybe it isn't a time sensitive issue.
Councilmember Holden asked what the Door -to -Door Group Affiliation item was.
