(5-0) <br /> <br />p.m., at City Hall. <br /> <br />SCHEDULE PUBLIC <br />HEARING; VACATION <br />OF EASEMENI'S,~ <br />HEALTH, NORl'ID'KlODS <br /> <br />REPORl'; PARKING <br />ON lAKE JOHANNA <br />OOULE.VARD <br /> <br />Council was referred to a report fram the Public W=ks <br />SUperintendent dated 5-17-91, relative to parking on <br />lake Johanna Boulevard. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />winkel reviewed the Safety/Works Committee discussion and recommendation that no <br />variances or permits be issued f= parking on lake Johanna Boulevard. The <br />Committee suggested the resident experiencing the parking problems pursue the <br />offer fram neighbors to park a vehicle on their property. <br /> <br />llie Clerk Administrator reported he contacted Commander Bergeron to discuss the <br />parking situation; Bergeron stated if the city directs the County not to issue <br />citations f= parking, County Deputies will CCIIply with the =der. He further <br />advised that Commander Bergeron expressed concern that residents in other areas <br />of the City may also request to park on the street and a precedent would be <br />established. <br /> <br />Council concurred to discuss this matter upon receipt of a recommendation fram <br />the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />amER BUSINESS <br /> <br />MAIIBOX <br />DAMAGE <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone requested a report on the damaged <br />mailbox fram the Public Works SUperintendent. <br /> <br />Winkel distriJ:uted photographs of the mailbox in question and reported it does <br />not a];pear that the snowplow damaged the mailbox. He also noted the mailbox was <br />inaw:rupLiately installed; displayed diagrams of proper installation, as required <br />by the Post Office. Winkel reviewed City policy relating to damage to mailboxes <br />and suggested the homeowner be forwarded a copy of the proper installation <br />diagram. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />lliere was discussion relative to the extent of city responsibility f= <br />replacement of the mailbox. llie Public Works SUperintendent expressed concern <br />that a precedent may be set if the City purchases a replacement mailbox, even <br />though the City staff did not damage the mailbox. <br /> <br />After discussion, Council concurred that city staff be instructed to install a <br />replacement mailbox for the property owner as required by the Post Office, and <br />the Public Works SUperintendent be directed to advise the property owner of their <br />responsibility to purchase the replacement mailbox. Council further advised that <br />if the property owner refuses to purchase the replacement mailbox, this matter is <br />deemed resolved and the property owner accepts full responsibility for installing <br />and purchasing the mailbox. <br />
