2025 Water Distribution Maintenance Plan <br />Hydrant Servicing Area 360 FTE labor hours required, 2 FTEs required, high priority. <br />Servicing hydrants includes - oiling the top operating nut, oiling the nozzle section (where applicable), <br />and oiling the nozzle threads and caps. Hydrant servicing also includes checking for proper hydrant <br />operation, flushing the hydrant, inspecting the hydrant flag, and exercising the isolation gate valve. <br />*NOTE* — Lake Johanna Fire Department will require hydrant servicing as follows: 50% of public <br />hydrants in 2025, 75% of public hydrants in 2026, and 100% of public hydrants in 2027 and beyond. <br />Currently, Public Works service 33% of the hydrants on an annual rotation (i.e. Public Works services <br />one-third of the public hydrants in our city each year). The new requirements put forth by Lake Johanna <br />Fire Department will significantly increase the amount of labor hours needed to complete the task by <br />our Public Works maintenance staff. <br />The Utilities Lead <br />Develop a list of necessary hydrant repairs identified during hydrant servicing and assist in scheduling <br />that work. <br />39 <br />
