• <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> City Council. City Council members are the only elected officials of Arden Hills <br /> Municipal Government. The four council members and the mayor are elected at <br /> large on a non partisan basis for staggered, four year terms. City elections are held <br /> in even numbered years concurrently with the State and Federal general election in <br /> November. Terms of office become effective in January following the election. <br /> Council meetings. Regular City Council meetings are held on the second and last <br /> Monday of each month, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Special meetings or worksessions <br /> are held typically on the third Thursday of each month. All meetings of the City <br /> Council are open to the public, with the exception of executive sessions. Each <br /> regular meeting has an "Public Comment" segment during which time the <br /> members of the audience can address any issues not listed on the agenda. <br /> COMMISSIONS\COMMITTEES <br /> • The City Council appoints the members for its commissions and committees, <br /> which include: <br /> • Planning Commission <br /> • Parks and Recreation Committee <br /> • Finance Committee <br /> • Human Rights Committee <br /> • Public SafetykWorks Committee <br /> Planning Commission. Planning members serve one year terms. The <br /> Commission plans and reviews development proposals for compliance with the <br /> Comprehensive Plan. The Commission reviews property use requests such as <br /> Special Use Permits and variances. The Commission meets on the first <br /> Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Recommendations of the Commission are <br /> presented to the City Council. <br /> Parks and Recreation Committee. The Arden Hills Parks and Recreation <br /> Department is dedicated to serving the people of Arden Hills by providing a <br /> comprehensive, well maintained system of parks, trails, facilities and open spaces <br /> • and a balanced, well - organized program of affordable recreational activities. The <br /> committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. <br />
